fixed Idle worker notifications. if anyone has any problems please let me know

My idle worker notifications are not working at all. My miner is still getting knocked offline at random by "new block detected" messages (no clue what's causing this), but I'm no longer receiving notifications when it goes offline.

What are you mining with? If your seeing "new block detected" a lot this means your shares are below 128 right now. So if your cpu mining it will take a while to get a share. However, your shares are worth a lot more.. it evens out.. lowers bandwith. Basically you get paid twice as much a share then 64.. and 4 times the amount for 32.. This is what VARDIFF is all about.

We originally went back to 64 diff but noticed a huge overhead on the database entries. We decided to go back to 128.

The main goal is allow for people to set their own difficulty per each minor. But this is going to be a bit of code change and working with someone back the backend stratum.

I have a dedicated machine running 2 7950s. I had some trouble tweaking it so right now it's just running at defaults. The dashboard on the site reports my sharerate around 0.14/s, and hashrate around 1200KH/s.

So, not blazing fast, but not that slow, either. The plan is to expand it to 4-5 GPUs, but I can't justify doing that until I can get the first 2 stable.

It's not that I'm seeing "new block detected" frequently, it's just that every now and then when it sees "new block detected" it will just stop working. The computer and cgminer do not detect any crash or bluscreen or shutdown, all the fans continue running at the same speed, but the cards stop pushing out hot air, and the logs stop recording anything, I can't remote in anymore and the pool reports the worker offline, so I have to manually restart the machine.

I posted in another thread looking for help, and it was suggested it might be a problem with the connection to the pool or something wrong with the "new block detected" message being sent, but I have no way of checking this. I'm somewhat at a loss at the moment, I really don't know what to do to debug this because I have absolutely no message or error to go on....

Frustratingly now, though, I no longer receive the "Idle Worker" notifications, either, which is what the first post was about. Tongue

NEXT BLOCK WE ARE MOVING BACK TO PROPORTIONAL PAYOUTS
Well guys after 3 weeks of just horrible luck I decided its in the pools best interest we go back to Proportional payouts. and 0% Fee's. With rising difficulty on Litecoin. More PPS pools starting up at lower fee's the numbers just doesn't add up. The Pool is over 1k in the hole at this current time and there is no real benefit in running a pool at a huge loss.

However, many people like this pool. The new layout. The stability. ETC. With keeping that in mind I decided the only fair thing to do is move back to proportional payouts. As soon as this next block is found I will pay the normal PPS value and then switch to Proportional.

I am sure we will loose a few miners in doing so. I thank everyone that decided to be part of the pool as Pay Per Share. But I feel moving away from Pay Per Share is in in the pools best interest.

I normally would not bother with a grammar comment, and apologies if it
is already somewhere in the conversation.... but the irony demands it in this case:

"Because you feel your an Elitist Jerk"

An elitist jerk should probably understand the difference between  "your"  and "you're".

Well with us going Proportional. The pool already found two fast blocks. Great start for the pool miners that's for sure!

Did anything happen on the pool JUST now? Because my miner JUST went dead. I checked my spam folder and I have NOT received a notification for it, though.

No nothing has been touched.. this very much sounds like your miner is having issues.. i know you mentioned your using cgminer.. maybe try to upgrade to a newer version?

Yeah, I assumed the problem was on my end, but I couldn't figure it out and the advice I got from the forum was that it might be a problem on the pool's end. I suppose it could still be an ISP/Router issue or something, but I'm kinda lost.

Oh well, at least the idle notification's being looked into. Good luck. Cheesy

Miner just went down again, checked spam folder, checked deleted folder, checked email address and notification settings on site. Everything looks fine, but I'm still not receiving the notifications. I deleted and re-set my email on the site to see if that will fix it.

Miner died sometime last night, never got a notification. Maybe there's just something wrong with MY notifications?? I've like quadruple checked my email, and I double-checked the email address in my pool settings.
