One problem you will also find with the Threadripper CPUs is that you'll also have to get an X399 CPU to run them, and those are currently pretty expensive- the cheapest ones I can find on eBay are used and/or open box, and they're going for $270-300. I'd rather just go for a few CPUs and a cheaper motherboard, perhaps running a budget Skylake CPU to control the GPUs. Either way, you're not going to make a lot after electrical costs if you don't have free electricity, and it is always possible to just buy and hold crypto. It isn't a terrible idea, especially when coin prices are as low as they are right now.

I still don't understand until now why some people want to mine only with the CPU, whether they can't read some info even with the GPU it's hard to make a profit. Except if want to know about the mining process, I think isn't a problem.

you need to make profit. when you got 2$ /day but have to pay 5$ for energy. its a bad idea
