Meta thread link : New Announcement

Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.

But it does affect:
 - Voting in polls
 - Patroller jurisdiction
 - The "ignore newbie PMs" option.
 - "The body is omitted from this email because the sender is a newbie."
 - BBCode limits
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

One reason that I was hesitant to do this before is that there are an awful lot of newbie restrictions, and I don't want the forum to be unwelcoming to good newbies. I'll think about tying some of those to activity instead of rank in the future.

With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.

Source : Theymos (Administrator)

What is ur take on this new rules/restrictions that is been implemented?

In my opinion:

- This won’t affect the newcomers who are interested in this forum and it will only make this a better place for them to come and enjoy, then won't be annoyed by spammers.
- If you’re Demoted from Jr. member to Newbie then you must start posting a much helpful thread/replies to be merited. (1 merit exactly)
- Merit Sources increases then that’s a good news, hoping one of them is from the Philippines.

Madami side effects. Parehong good and bad. Sa good madami e. Bawas spam. Maccheck sino sino merit abusers, maclean up ung maraming old accounts na jr member below na madalas ginagamit upang ispam ung sig camp ng isang bounty tapos di naman tlga nakasuot ung Sig. Yung Bad marami gagawa ng paraan dito para magka merit without much use of 'helpful posts' or posting anything other than that. Smiley

That's right. Earning a merit is not that too hard to attain because if you already know to yourself that you are hardworking and don't belong to the virus (pertaining to the shitposters) spreading in this forum then avoid worrying too much, merit will come to you naturally.

Nakakatuwa lang isipin na meron kang malawak na pang-unawa, that you keep working instead of complaining and keep hustling instead of doing nothing Smiley. I'm not so sure whether the majority of Filipino newbies have the positive outlook on what theymos did but as long as I can see supporters of this new rule, even only a few, then it's already considered a great thing.

Good Point of view kabayan. As long matulungan nyo talaga sila o nagandahan sila sa shineshare mo maaring mabigyan kanila ng merit.
