my wallet cannot sync
please help with the node

It can take a couple of hours. There are plenty of nodes and two DNS Seeds

Does it not need nodes written in a conf file? I cannot find any in the OP. Do the two DNS Seeds take care of everything?

The DNS Seeds list all current nodes, so they handle it all.

As all of us cryptogeeks know, explaining digital currencies in a brief conversation is very difficult. There is so much to understand and it is wrapped in vocabulary the general public does not understand: wallet, blockchain, mining, faucets, pools, etc.

In almost a year of building a user community of over 57,000 in social media, we have used many different methods, some of which I have posted about. Recently we have hit on a method of explaining cryptos clearly enough that the everyday user can understand and take the first step to get started. Then over time, we can get more and more technical if the user is interested.

You can see what we do on in our blog post How do digital currencies work

AppleByte is currently ranked 5th out of all altcoins on Coingecko.com when sorted by user community size & engagement.

We have 13,400+ twitter followers and 11,700+ Facebook followers.
AppleByte supported over 500 artists in 2014 with donations, awards and tips.

The key to long term growth of an altcoin is not the number of speculators it has on exchanges, but is the growth in real users of the coin.

Please check out the communities yourself:
Website: AppleByte.me
Facebook: AppleByteMe FB Page
Twitter: AppleByteMe Twitter

As to this thread being shorter than the ANN threads of many coins, there are two reasons:

1. If you scan through most of those threads, you will find many pages of posts about things not working. You will not see that often on the AppleByte ANN thread. When we release something, it works.

2. For the most part, the members of Bitcointalk are enamored with "technological" improvements, searching for the next botcoin. We can tell you from experience, promoting AppleBytes to the normal man on the streets, 80% of them still do not know what bitcoin is. The Bitcoin or Crypto 2.0 altcoins popular here are light-years from being accepted by the general public.

So... Norton and Chrome have both blocked me from downloading the Windows wallet.

I tried to set up an account on the pool server, but I never received a confirmation email.

Thanks for the Applebytes from the Apple Orchard, though.

Both the windows and Mac wallets just worked for me on chrome. What error are you getting?

As for the pool confirm. What email domain are you using? Try using gmail, that has solved the problem for others.

If you are still having issues, please email support<at>applebyte.me

Or you can also use the online wallet, which works on IOS as well: Online Wallet
or the android wallet, available on google play.

In view of recent changes in the virtual currency regulations in the United States, the final release of the Bit License requirements in New York, and clarifications of the law from the Ripple case, the AppleByte Foundation is re-assessing its responsibilities under US law.

We believe regulation is good for the digital currency ecosystem, including bitcoin and altcoins, and will bring much needed legitimization of the industry. We also believe that for any digital currency to achieve longterm success, meeting these regulatory requirements is a necessity.

So AppleByte is taking a proactive approach to understanding and applying any US regulatory responsibilities, deemed applicable.

In our recent discussions with two separate legal experts in the field, AppleByte has become aware that some of the services provided to users, by the AppleByte Foundation may bring regulatory requirements under current US law.

Under FinCEN (mirrored in the NY laws), the applicable clause requiring registration is this (see section bolded and underlined below):

"c.   De-Centralized Virtual Currencies

A final type of convertible virtual currency activity involves a de-centralized convertible virtual currency (1) that has no central repository and no single administrator, and (2) that persons may obtain by their own computing or manufacturing effort.

A person that creates units of this convertible virtual currency and uses it to purchase real or virtual goods and services is a user of the convertible virtual currency and not subject to regulation as a money transmitter. By contrast, a person that creates units of convertible virtual currency and sells those units to another person for real currency or its equivalent is engaged in transmission to another location and is a money transmitter. In addition, a person is an exchanger and a money transmitter if the person accepts such de-centralized convertible virtual currency from one person and transmits it to another person as part of the acceptance and transfer of currency, funds, or other value that substitutes for currency.

See: Link to complete FinCEN regulation

This section of the law, speaks to any case where a person or entity has custody (for any time period) of another persons digital currency.

The AppleByte Foundation is currently in the process of obtaining legal opinions on the following services, that may fall under this section:

Pool server
Online wallet server
Twitter & Reddit tipping app servers
AppleByte Music site

AppleByte has decided to take a conservative approach and temporarily suspend these services during the process of determining and defining regulatory requirements.

We anticipate that this process will take 30 days. Once an understanding of any regulatory requirements is gained and processes are in place to meet the requirements, AppleByte will re-open these services.

During this service suspension:

Miners can move to another pool server operated by a 3rd party.
Users can use the AppleByte core wallets for MAC, Windows, or Android.
Users can give tips to artists directly from their personal wallets to the artist's AppleByte address.

We thank our users in advance for their patience during this temporary suspension of these services. The AppleByte community of artists and art lovers continues to grow at a rate of over 1000 social media followers a week. We currently have a total social media following of over 68,000.

We believe that proactively meeting US regulatory requirements is positive for AppleByte and is another step in separating us from the hundreds of altcoins who either can not or will not meet the current regulations.

We are contacting all users of these services and will allow 15 days for users to transfer their AppleBytes to their personal core wallets.

Price is falling because there is very low diff for miners. Miners dumping all coins. Maybe dev could think about not to limit pool to 25mh/s and release the source for other pools. it should help to pump the price on exchanges in long run. Anyway there is pool which is not limited by mh/s per user. I know there was idea to allow cpu/gpu miners to be profitable but I think It's not possible on scrypt algos anymore, maybe only to change algo, if dev wan't to go gpu's way... In this situation the price will be 20- sat soon and people were byuing this for 100+ sats. But anyway, nice coin... Good luck Smiley

We begin our process of temporarily taking down some services in order to make the upgrades to meet the new FinCEN and NY regs. (see post above for details. We anticipate the process will take 3 weeks, so please be patient.

AppleByte community is growing strong and will be even stronger when we become one of the first coins to meet the new regs.
