With the way Bitcoin's prices are moving, you can never blame the growing(or decreasing) number of speculators in the market. I mean, the opportunities that Bitcoin opens up to us should be grabbed right away. Let it sit and those are missed chances for anyone to earn. Plus, I think the speculators give the market the "balance" that it needs. Of course, I would prefer if many users do see Bitcoin more than just an investment tool. This will give it a chance to further expand its applications and reach different parts of the world where it can provide payment convenience, security, etc.

And I think this is something that has negatively impacted the market, because it has driven the high volatility in the prices of cryptocurrencies, regardless of how serious each project is: investors are always willing to sell their tokens at the first opportunity, instead of supporting the cryptos as a technological development with long-term potential.

this is what we always seen in the first stage of the projects, instead of supporting the projects, most of the investors are getting/grabbing the first opportunity to sell their tokens/coins just to get profits. and most of the time holders are suffering much hurt after the dump, and the projects is hard to recover after that.

there haven't been many solid long lasting projects in crypto world
hence people always try to get in first and get out fast as soon as profit can be realized
if the project is real, speculators won't affect much the course of the project
in fact its tokens/coins should get appreciated in price along with the development of the project
project development affects token's price, it should not be the opposite Cool

Already those who give us the most damage, these speculators? Nevertheless, I think that this negativity will disappear in the future.

Yes,  I agree with OP regarding the subject wherein most of people are here in the cryptocurrency to earn fast profit and that is why they are more of a speculator.  I don't know if speculation can really make the crypto market improve and could encourage also to new IP to invest in cryptocurrency.
So you mean that if someone is a speculator he just want a fast profit? I doubt it.
Somehow speculations really affect the market as people easily believes on what they read and jumping into the conclusion without even knowing if it's true and there they are spreading the news that they read and so acts a domino effect in the community. Instances, we have influencial people that we've looking up to and everything that they've forecasting is a big deal for us, but still it's up to us whether to believe them or not.

Seeing the usual conversations in this forum and in others related to the cryptocurrency issue, as well as the groups on Facebook, Telegram and others, it seems that most of those interested in this field have no other interest than making easy and fast profits.

And I think this is something that has negatively impacted the market, because it has driven the high volatility in the prices of cryptocurrencies, regardless of how serious each project is: investors are always willing to sell their tokens at the first opportunity, instead of supporting the cryptos as a technological development with long-term potential.

Do you agree with the speculation without limits?

What else is it good for? To hold relatively short time and wait, when You can sell at higher, than You have bought. Wait, thats is the essence of speculating, right?

Yes, I think what you are describing is the fact that is happening now. there are lots of new coins present but many are useless. I think this is bad as you say, most of the developers also don't prioritize ideas and technology as the basis for crypto. how to make money fast is the main goal of various ico at this time.

We can't blame those investors who sells their altcoin because that is actually the main purpose of investment right? During ICO, that altcoin is on a sale price where you get an extra percentage bonus or maybe an airdrop. The price on ICO changes when time passes by and when it gets listed to a trading platform, the price either went down or went up depending on the traders approach. If I were an investor, I will definitely play with my altcoin I invested with. I mean, I will sell my altcoin above ICO price since I got it on a sale price. That will be a secured profit right? Then depending on the potential of the altcoin, the real supporters or holders will buy it back at its lowest price.

The market was volatile even without speculators.Yes, a large percentage of people in the cryptocurrency see only benefits, but as a rule such people are not far-sighted.Most of those who see cryptocurrencies one step ahead do not sell cryptocurrencies as soon as possible.

What makes the blockchain such an incredible technology for speculation? Let’s first examine what makes a good speculative asset and see how blockchains help.
1)Hard To Counterfeit
2)Easily And Cheaply Held
3)Easily And Cheaply Transferred
4)Secure
5)Private
6)Divisible
7)Programmable Contracts
The biggest criticism of cryptoassets is that they are only good for speculation. That’s not true: there are many reasons to buy the underlying assets, like for computing power or to transact privately. But it is true that blockchains are unusually good for speculation.

There are not too many speculators in crypto, all of us are speculators and traders. Market isn`t volatile because of the crypto itself, it`s volatile because all of us are trading, speculating. With everyone having a possibility to affect the market, you need to have volatility, because each of us affect supply or demand. Today when we have crypto profit can be in crypto or in fiat, which way you choose you will work to have more crypto demand is going up or you will sell crypto for fiat and you will make supply higher. Maybe that is a good thing, we affect the price with our actions, nobody can do it alone. Whales have more power, but all of us contribute to the market, crypto market is special cause of that. Look at the topic and comments here, you will understand that each person have some idea about the crypto future, and according to that people trade and speculate, each of us.

most investors see the value of the token or currency more important than the project behind it, which leads to the massive purchase of cryptocurrencies without knowing which are the ones that can give the best returns, this causes a massive overvaluation, where they arrive other investors who believe in the project but lose money if they do not analyze the situation adequately.

I think that everyone has the right to do what he wants. Speculators bring money to the market and do nothing wrong.

I do agree with you.  Market won't move without speculators.  A clear definition of speculator according to google :

Quote
spec·u·la·tor
ˈspekyəˌlādər/Submit
noun
1.
a person who invests in stocks, property, or other ventures in the hope of making a profit.
"financial speculators exploiting small changes in markets to make money"

These are the people who think that the market will go up and invest in the stocks ( in this case Bitcoin) that they believe in.  I also do not see it wrong in investing our money in something we believe in.

even we also include speculation. if it is not speculation in trading, or choosing an investment, we at least always focus on ico, where we will join the bounty campaign. and finally get a reward or not? great value or not? it is also speculation. Crypto world is full of speculation, but promises big profits.

Yes I agree on that investing in one thing that we believe is amazing and I see that there is no wrong with it. Bitcoin or maybe crypto feild has many speculators bit I only believe on the speculation that has a basis, and not only speculations. I believe that crypto will rise soon but there is no exact date or maybe time on it.

The existence of speculators I think is quite normal in the crypto market, because crypto is market fluctuations, the price is determined by demand. but for now many are speculators to influence people in selling or buying in order to generate quick profits. The only problem here is, emotions are stronger than your goals, especially with beginners, and that makes the market more volatile.

Speculations has always been part of every endeavours where people buy and sell that provides opportunity to make money. In the stock market, forex market, commodity market, local market etc. the difference is that its more pronounced in crypto market than other forms of market listed there which is due to the growing nature of the market. When its eventually grown, the volatility would be reduced to the minimum.

On tokens, there is really nothing to do about that at this time until there is some regulations in that market. Its the fear of future worthlessness that push people to start looking for the first opportunity to sell but with regulations, you are sure that only workable projects makes it to the ICO market and with that, stability would gradually be introduced into the market.

There are hypers too. They hype the news and promised something tnat is not believeable. I think there are campaigns that just like that, they are being paid too and also you can see them on trading chatbox. There are many trolls there. Smiley

In any investment market, i think there is speculator. They just want to make quick profits and sometimes does not care about the technology behind it. I think its very normal because peoples always looking an opportunity to make profits on their investment.

Basically, a lot of people came into crypto space just to earn money. They don't care about technology, ideas and changing life to better. They just want to make fast money. And only 20-30% truly believe in Bitcoin and blockchain.
