it was always slow with withdrawrals and verifications when i tried to use it years back.

I then withdrew all my btc to a secure blockchain account, more secure than any other account on the internet, and i piut it in there.

I also created a cold storage with bitcoin wallet generator offine and sent the btc there.

They had already a high volume, a Yubikey for free , a rights-based API and multi currency trading when I start. There were many tools for the GOX-APIs. With clark moody you had and "living" order book.

The other exchanges have just developed very slowly. Bitstamp at that time was just scrap. Okay, they had fast SEPA payments. But that has my bank also. I would say Bitstamp was / is an exchange, whereas Gox was a high volume trading platform since 2011.

Since October last year, I have planed to quit bitcoin trading. I waited just too long. Especially for convenience and Gox imagine me is safe.

Things started last year to run poorly. Other platforms are making progress. But many of us were still mentally bound to Gox.
Let's see what will be with Gox.

Anyway, now I mistrust all. Will never again use a Bitcoin exchange.

They all have just a big mouth and at the end someone has to pay the massive profits of a few.

Because "Gox" is a catchy name. The dumbed down media locked on to it. Told everyone "Gox" was the place. Whatever the official TV commands the masses to do. They usually do it. No matter how many times they've been  burned.

After my Blockchain Info account experience. I no longer trust storing any serious amount of coins, online, in any account.  If you have an online account. Just assume they copied your password and user name when you signed up. They can steal any amount of your coins at anytime. Get hacked or go out of business.

And to my amazement. About three of my friends gave me articles telling me Bitcoin was going out of business. After all. GOX was going down.  Roll Eyes   They actually have no idea how Bitcoin works and think Gox is Bitcoin.

Yes, it's a good approach when you have started with mining very early. Otherwise you have to get your coins elsewhere. And since the coins are now expensive, you have to trust a lot in these platforms.

Of course you should not do and the price of the bitcoin get back to $ 1, because money stay away from the exchanges.  Tongue

So what is realistic here? If everyone only hoards or do nothing, your coins are very fast worthless. To me it is no matter now. Will never trade again with coins.
But if everyone would do so, then bitcoin would quickly disappear from the scene.

OhShei8e  am I right in thinking that after your holiday when you get back you are looking the block chain over using transaction ID's from victims who signed up to your site?

If so please read post 30 on thread below.

When I started getting into crypto just about every article I read about it listed MtGox as the place to buy coins.  Sometimes they might mention another exchange, but these were always 'also rans' and sounded like knockoffs or shady.

I'm kind of glad I got into crypto so late, since if I had done it a year or so earlier MtGox would surely have been my entry point.

I'm sorry you had money up on MT GOX. By the time they started having trouble it was too late to do much of anything anyway. Hopefully You and the rest will get your property back like I did from Bitfloor.
