Bitcoin is the safest investment only among other Crypto-Currencies, because it's the currency that came first, it's the precursor of the entire market and the most trusted one by the investors. But when you think about another investments it's not safe, there isn't any guarantee you will make profit by holding Bitcoins, there is a lot of risk involved and it's very important for every investor to be aware about it before putting money on it expecting returns.

In other words, it has the first mover advantage making it the most famous cryptocurrency of all. Others even thought that bitcoin is only the coin existing because it is always the one they are hearing. When it comes to the safest investment, I think it would be bitcoin because it is the driver of the market and it has less fluctuation compared to other coins.

Many people are hoarding coins hoping that it would rise in value in the future so there would always be a demand for it. Besides that, it is used as payment option which is its real purpose and its only one of the coins that is used for its actual use case.

Most people invested in bitcoin but didn't conduct any research they think bitcoin as an easy way to make profit but the true purpose of bitcoin is to become a decentralized payment that would rival and challenge the current fiat system and possibly surpass it overtime with if's innovative technology. I think Bitcoin will be safe investment if you know how bitcoin works and actually if you know how to use this technology you will gain profit but still bitcoin will always have a risk no doubt but if we look if what coin will be the safest crypto coin to invest I think that would be bitcoin.

I dont agree with you about mass adoption , rarely people want to accept btc.

I woud like add that it is a safe investment because it is unreachable by authorites and banks which have frozen honest working citizens funds in the past.

A lot of crypto fans and investors are now worried about continuous bearish trend for Bitcoin price and other cryptocurrencies this year 2018. And now beginning to doubt  their initial commitment to the Bitcoin ecospace. A lot of people have forgetting the core idea behind the invention of Bitcoin. Most of us have forgetting that Bitcoin was created to challenge the established FIAT system where money can be printed without control and no regards for inflation.

This is entirely not the fault of most of us but it is because of the Bull run Bitcoin has enjoyed so far especially in 2017 where price reaches as high as $20,000. We all got greedy and forgot about the initial ideals behind bitcoin. We all want to cash in the same Fiat currency bitcoin is trying to challenge. This in my opinion is one of the reason why bitcoin price fell this year. We do not fully trust the crypto space yet.

Bitcoin is here to stay and will remain dominant for the future and I still consider it as the most secured investment in this digital age after gold. Below are some of the reasons why I think Bitcoin is a safe investment

1. Bitcoin has already achieved mass adoption though this is subjective . A lot people will now accept bitcoin payment without worrying about how to exchange it.
2. Bitcoin is limited in supply , only 21 Million Bitcoin can ever be created. Out of which 4 million is already lost making it 17 Million.
3. Bitcoin remains dominant in the coinmarketcap with 55% of the entire marketcap
4. Bitcoin current price is still higher than what it is this same time last year

Please I will appreciate if anyone can add reason why they think Bitcoin is a safe investment.

I don't really know that Bitcoin may be the safest way to invest in since no one knows where the price will go in the future and of course because there are so many coins that are coming out of the market that may surpass Bitcoin.

While there will be manipulations with the price of Bitcoin, it will not become a currency, it is an object of investment, the security of which depends only on the investor.

Bitcoin will not be a safest place for investment. Bitcoin has no insurance if it get hack and it also has a potential to drop overnight even it in high before it. unstable in price and got no insurance if something happen. I wouldn't dare to put all my saving to something that not very clear and safe. today I gain profit tomorrow I lost everything. Cryptos gain it name because it was tagged as a high risk investment not because it safe. you think about it more.

I will not agree with your statement as bitcoin has volatility in nature it's more on price manipulation rather than adoptions. Although it's more convenient to have you access anytime rather than in the banks but totally it's still in high risk if you will invest all your money in bitcoin.

There are no safe investment in the world for me.. Actually it would not be an investment if you don't have the risks. I invested in bitcoin too and made quite fortune of it in 2017 but today you can not know anything for sure. The bitcoins market cap going down.. That was %58 a month ago now it came to %51 and still falling. So keep away with big investments..

to be fair OP is not saying bitcoin is a "safe" investment. he is saying it is the "safest". although that can be not true depending on what group you are comparing bitcoin to but generally it is safer than a lot of things.

safe here must be in a sense, safe in storage. and bitcoin is quite safe so far, and for price issues, bitcoin is volatile and everyone knows that. lately the question is the wallet security issue. especially when several exchangers had lost a lot, and also some people also claimed to have been stolen.

In actual fact, Bitcoin is a high risk investment and people should never invest more than what they are willing to lose. I still see Bitcoin as a young technology in the experimental phases and people should be wary about that.

We do not know if the scaling solutions will work and if the mining will stay sustainable and if competition will dethrone Bitcoin. So, until Bitcoin has matured, keep a open mind and tread cautiously.    <Do not Sell your house to buy bitcoins>

I think the consensus among all those who have basic understanding of bitcoin is that it is not the safest investment although it has a lot of potential. and as for the risks, the risk of "competition dethroning" is zero because what you call competition either is a shitcoin that is only in the news because it was pumped or if it is a good project it still suffers from the same flaws as bitcoin does and in some cases it even has more flaws.

Bitcoin might be safe in some technical sense because technology is really good secured.
On the other hand there is always risk of losing your funds, maybe even bigger compared to some other means of investment, due to high volatility.
Actually, safety in this case depends on your perception, what you consider to be safe.
