When we use another cryptocurrency as the main measure unit to calculate the value of cryptocurrencies, altcoin would stop following the price of bitcoin. The price of altcoin is following the price of bitcoin because of the psychology of human, we are thinking that bitcoin is the core of cryptocurrency. If we can delete this thinking, the price of altcoin will stop following bitcoin.
When real usage and adoption happen inside alts industry, then will be the time for alts to have good community and value, each alts that have the target venue will surpassed the bitcoin shadow after things become usable from that venue itself, when the audience start to really adopt and use the system
and makes the system very useful for their businesses,.

It will never unfollow the bitcoin price even with a real use case and it will be useless. Bitcoin just like a fiat money that has been used to determine the real price of the each token or altcoin.
So many projects have created their own product and give a real use case for us but they can't even leave from the bitcoin domination.

As we notice that almost all the altcoins follow the price of bitcoin . I'm just wondering when they will become independent and don't follow the bitcoin price?
Altcoins can get rid of the price dominance of bitcoin only in the case when bitcoin will lose its high level of capitalization. Now the capitalization of bitcoin is more than 112 billion dollars, and the capitalization ethereum, which is the second in terms of capitalization - is more than 22 billion. Based on this, this state of affairs is unlikely to change in the near future. The difference in the level of capitalization is too great.

In my opinion, altcoins may become independent from bitcoin only if the latter loses its dominance over the market which is not realistic now but entirely possible in the future, regulations and big investors should change the market

being independent between altcoins and bitcoin is separate because of the ups and downs of market conditions, therefore the second price can be a price that follows bitcoin to independent of altcoin prices

Blockchain technology continues to be developed and gets important attention from everyone, we can see bitcoin will have great competitors in the future, with innovative and better ideas. Bitcoin has a small amount of supply, this makes bitcoin prices high, has many requests but only has a little inventory.

As we notice that almost all the altcoins follow the price of bitcoin . I'm just wondering when they will become independent and don't follow the bitcoin price?
why not?
traders now are very careful, not like FOMO people like last year. and I think that's a good sign for a stable market.
holders don't really want to sell their coins even BTC go down or up. and mostly people holding coins are holders, traders have long gone.

That is known trend price of altcoins follows, i don't think altcoins can be independent from bitcoin we have to leave with that reality, it is most recognised it is indispensable.

From the beginning I did not think of the price of the altcoins under bitcoin. That's just the distribution of the sharks. They scattered all the altcoins and they made a profit from traders selling off the cheap altcoins. They have a very large organization and work very well. In the stock market there are a few such groups and I'm sure my thinking is right.

All altcoin price are depending on bitcoin price no matter what, that is the only things that really happens in all coins in the market, when whales (bitcoin) move altcoins follows like they threat bitcoin as the leader. And to be an independent one, it is impossible to be.

All the altcoins will be always dependable on bitcoins because most of the ico today has base price of ethereum which is tether to bitcoins and that is the reason why all the cryptocurrency in the market is highly affected every time the bitcoin price is dropping.

The reason is the lack of fiat trading pairs for most alts.

Say a coin has a price of 0.1 BTC, and bitcoin is at $6000. So the coin has a price of $600.

Bitcoin then rises to $12000. There has been no trading on the altcoin, it is still at 0.1BTC... which means it is now at $1200.

So the price charts will say the coin has risen 100% (from $600 to $1200), exactly the same percentage increase as bitcoin. But in fact the coin hasn't moved at all, there has been no trading.

This is a simplistic example, but it is caused by the lack of trading pairs, and by the facts that a) when trading on an exchange you are typically trading against BTC, and b) coinmarketcap gives you prices in $ rather than in BTC.

Bitcoin is the king of the electronic money market, and it will survive for a long time in this role. It would be long before altcoins could break out of Bitcoin's shadow. It may be two or five years.

It will still take time I guess before altcoins could become independent with bitcoin and if that happens ethereum might get even with regards being dominant in crypto world since only few altcoins could exchange directly with fiat just like bitcoin, ethereum and few others.

I wouldn't say it is not possible as we can still get to see this in the long run. For one thing, the market is all speculative right now and the only reason why we get to see movements like this is simply because whales are always driving the price to their taste so as to keep making shit load of profit. However, with real life usage, things would change as we get to see each alt market having its own demand without being driven by speculations and in those kind of scenario, we get to see a matured market and not just some pump and dump market.

This will happen when the exchanges stops pairing altcoins to bitcoin but I think that situation will only happen when altcoins became big and started to be used by mainstream. I think it started cause the top altcoins are now paired to usd in almost all of the exchanges unlike way back then when it's only paired to bitcoin.
