I only look at the team, if it's a strong team with clearly identified people (no aliases) and a good vision for a use case, then I am in. I also make sure it's not a token because they're all bullshit. Mining a coin, with PoS, strong team and a good use case that isn't a token. The end. Everything else is shit.

Team, discussion, mostly if they are active on social and Discord. How open source and individual the project is.

The #1 thing that makes me trust a company is the people behind the company.
Anytime I am serious about a coin, I will reach out and contact the devs and ceos before I buy.
If it is difficult to reach out to them, then immediately I pass on it.
At the very least, if I can't get a hold of some kind of at least Admin, then the company is not worth my time.
Even eth can be considered a startup.  And the only way startups expand into a long lasting company with value is through communication with their support base.

The other thing I look at is the tech itself.
since I am not that tech savvy, I pass a lot of it on to my techie friends to get their opinions.
If the crypto doesnt' have a github, that's a pass.
If it doesn't have a functioning product, that's another pass.

There are many factors that one must first consider before trusting a new cryptocurrency. The platform if it is really feasible, the detailed information about the crypto as outlined in their whitepaper and also the team running the project. If all of these are satisfied, then I confidently invest and trust that crypto.

Right, they have the potential to grow because they have good technology innovations that are in great demand by many people,
that's the first thing I see from a new coin, then the second stage I will start seeing their whitepaper, their team, etc.

Most of the alt coin that comes out are actually clone of other coins or  just pure dumb/pump coins that eventually dies just after few weeks. Usually coins that have potential, unique and is functionally different with a good development team are the ones that can be trusted. But you will see people investing on shit coins, just because of greed. They hope that they can make some quick good money and exit without losing anything.

I am not at all easy to believe with new token/altcoins because most of them (the developers) just want to get free and fast money from investors, and then they don't care anymore about the exchange rate that continues to run out and is not feasible. I did noticed bitcoin during its opening stage. It was hard to suddenly jumped it especially I am not the tech geek person. I only started investing money into bitcoin and other crypto few years ago because I can see many good names and reliable people into it already. Now that the market is not really performing well and still there are too many coins and projects that wanted attention. It is making me hard to believe on new projects unless people behind it are known and reliable.
