Anyone surprised about any of the cities? I am particularly surprised about Madrid being among the top cities, before now, I had always thought that Spain as a whole is not a place for Cryptocurrency.

I'm surprised Miami isn't on the list, isn't a giant crypto conference held there pretty much every single year? I guess they need to be pushing it more often when they're there.

The number of users is, by far, more important and show the real picture of the city. If a city has 100 businesses accepting cryptocurrency but nobody is using it then it's worthless. You can have 100 businesses accepting crypto but if only 0.001% of the transactions are paid in crypto then it shows nothing (especially considering most of them are small or very small merchands)

Me either since Malta brand as the blockchain paradise and many projects had flock to innovate their product and putting up their headquarters as well. Well I guess, the basis of this list was the merchants found using the CoinMap.

That team should visit Japan and use CoinMap to locate those bitcoin hotspot, Japan has over 20,000 merchants that accepts bitcoin, ( though it's through their website and online store ).

China shut down the Shanghai based bitcoin exchange and so the decline in usage of bitcoin, and miners have nothing to do with it.

Japan supposed to be number one with this list since bitcoin originated and created by a japanese. Hopefully one of this day Philippines will be one in the list also and soon every country!

I do not see Japan in your list,  I mean,  unlike China, Japan has really been surprising in being the top Asia country that has embraced this digital currency unlike any other Asia country.  Though, Indonesia  kinda welcomed Bitcoin but not as the Japanese. And I believe this is because the Japanese are open minded to new technologies and willingly to try something new.

 i am really happy seeing that there are now a lot of major cities around the world that accepts the value of cryptocurrency.

Unfortunately, there is no way to approximate this.

And even if we have a number of users using crypto, we would also have to wonder how many of those are unique persons.
Somebody might buy a coffee in the morning a sandwich in the afternoon and a "Bounty" bar later on each day and that would count in a month as 100 purchases. While a hotel might have 60 tourists paying with BTC and it would rank lower.

But overall, nice numbers

You could also add here in our country that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are legal here and also there are a lot of businesses that are now accept it.

With the continuous development of cryptocurrencies, governments around the world have different responses to bitcoin.
Some local governments do not support it, some open the embrace of cryptocurrencies, and others hold a wait-and-see attitude.
