It means that we have to hope he really is Satoshi, so he can afford the bodyguards he needs from now on. If not he is in deep shit.
Yeah, he's definitely a target now, sadly.

even if this guy isn't THE Satoshi, his life is now going to be a living hell.

I'm not sure which scares me more:

a) the article is true and now the media/government can use this person's personal/character defects (come on nobody's perfect) to attack bitcoin

b) the article is false and this guy is going to get kidnapped and killed when his family can't pay the ransom.

This is really not good, no matter what.

And even if you're a sociopath and don't care about this guy, situation (b) still means bitcoin becomes "murdercoin" in the media.

The printing press heralded the end of the Dark Ages and made the Enlightenment possible, but it took another three centuries before any country managed to put freedom of the press beyond the reach of legislators.  So it may take a while before cryptocurrencies are free of the AML-NSA-KYC surveillance plague.

As they intended. I can not help but notice they run everything negative they can find, and in fact take a shot at it again in this very artical.

It seems Newsweek and other large publications have an easier time writing about the secretive and apparent Bitcoin founder and supposed criminals like Charlie Shrem or e-Gold founder Douglas Jackson then focusing on real issues that cost billions if not trillions, not even mentioning the changes in the legal landscape in the US. Probably scared
Associated Press might yank their chain.

It is also possible that the article is factually correct and that this Nakamoto has nothing to do with bitcoin.

Whether he believes or not, he's responsible for pointing that vulture in the direction of Nakamoto. If he's not the real Satoshi, he should immediately sue that woman before they start filming his house 24/7.  If I were him I'd disconnect my phone and internet and take a hike.

Does it say that in the bible?

Gavin's tweets doesn't mean the article is true.

lol. what does it mean then, idiot?

Wow, so communicate, such friendly. Cool

Quote
Nakamoto also ignored all of Andresen's questions about where he was from, his professional background, what other projects he'd worked on and whether his name was real or a pseudonym (many of Bitcoin's devotees use pseudonyms). "He was never chatty," Andresen says. "All we talked about was code."

Quote
In fact, he never even heard Nakamoto's voice, because the founder of Bitcoin would not communicate by phone. Their interactions, he says, always took place by "email or private message on the Bitcointalk forum," where enthusiasts meet online.

As Gavin never met or knew who Satoshi was he would have no idea if that was the man himself or not.

Idiot.

Sorry but I think if this is proven to be Satoshi the price will go up as more people realise it's not any govt dept. (CIA/NSA/MI5) behind bitcoin.

Gavin in article mention that he never met Satoshi and don't know his real identity. Gavin shouldn't take part in this article at all.

This is not good news... I hope the next chirp from Gavin isn't "I regret talking to the CIA and CFR and..."! Don't you know...loose lips sink ships!

Well he's had nearly three years to get over talking to the CIA... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=6652.0

Its a sad reflection of humanity that no one thus far has even considered the possibility that the man pictured is completely made up, like this:

And the fact that the article mentions that Satoshi broke off contact after Gavin mentioned that meeting (not sure if that's a fact, but he wasn't very happy about poking the hive) is quite telling of his intentions, why can't Gavin just stop... and rather let Bitcoin do the talking...

Here's an idea: next time someone asks about bitcoin, send them the whitepaper, the source code, a paper wallet and direct them to a decent mining hardware vendor and tell them to read a little more just like everyone else Wink

P.S. I must say, it sounds like the cops actually did a good job for a change... and whether it's Satoshi or not, he sounds like a great Dad.

Just saying.

It's not our Satoshi. (facts we know, don't match at all)
Cheap article. Finding a Satoshi, claiming it to be the real one. To get some 'praise' as a journalist. (Media coverage > Fact finding.) Just saying.

Satoshi, I know you read this. ; Run you cleverboy, run.
