It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

This forum is all about seeking and sharing the knowledge regarding blockchain and cryptocurrencies, especially the Bitcoin. As I recommend to every newbie, invest maximum time in reading as much as valuable topics to understand it in a better way. One can start with beginners & help section itself where he will find the solution to most of his queries as a newbie.

If I can quickly add to that. Posts with a lot of merits are usually very helpful and accurate, so focus on that. You will be bombarded with a bunch of different opinions and it is not always factual, so make sure to read more than one opinion, before you take that as facts.

Also take note that Merit is given by fellow forum members and some people are using Alt accounts to boost their merit count, so it is not always accurate. Look for posts where several different people merited the posts, for better accuracy.  Roll Eyes

About that, I'd prefer to look for the post that are merited but of course I'll be checking the merit posts from a know user like jetcash and more known users here in bitcointalk.

+1 as it is true, most merited users are the ones that contributed a lot in this forum and I'm sure you know who.

Merit is not the Alpha & Omega benchmark for good quality post, but some of them are true gems. This forum is packed with people with excellent skills and loaded with knowledge, so if you want to find them, just search for the people with the most merit and you would be one step closer to finding these gems.

Some people get merit for the wrong reasons and not just for good quality posts, but they still added a lot of value. Just watch out for the people who are exploiting the merit system and if you find them, you just report them.  Wink

I think it is sad that the first three topics you mention are the least important, and are related to the activities that were destroying the forum.
You don't join the forum to get merits and achieve rank, and you only need those if you intend to leech off the efforts of the crypto-enthusiasts here.

Search for help of course, and use the forum to learn about Bitcoin and the crypto economy. Please don't start to spam your signature until you know enough to decide what you should be promoting. If you start off by promting a scam, you could tarnish your account for a few years.

I disabled Fit to Talk registrations because of applications by non-member spammers. Click here to send me a PM if you would like to join.

Right, I didn't include that one. It's because of the merit abuse that makes me wrong about the users that contributed a lot to this forum. I did read a thread about the double sent merit that the user only intends to send 1 but the merited user received 2 merits.

I used tbose because a new user would likely be curious to know more about how the forum works and details on profiles. Of course there are other quality topics a user can search on and the community is always there to help out.
And an ideal user is here to contribute and learn from the community, but tbose topics I believe would be an of initial interest.

When youre new in this forum. Kindly improvise ideas by looking at the Frequently Ask Questions section. And applying first the posting and replying area in this forum. Then slowly enhancing knowledge and giving away legitimate and complete information to share with the community.
