I think, the point in pursuing numbers to 'pad your resume' is that when a real person does examine any of your profiles, the instant effect is greater if there are say 12,019 subscribers, rather than just 19 subscribers, even though 12k are fakes. People frown on bots, but, unfortunately that initial impact of numbers is too big to ignore.

Of course, that is just the initial impact. If, after signing up, they find your forum deserted despite the 12k numbers, there's disillusionment again, and unsubscribe!

So, what should be the trade-off? I myself don't know, so I am asking. Maybe, if the 'About Us' text states, 'we are just starting,' or some such thing, and the padding is small, like 500, 2500, then it might work, or will it?!

Its been overrun by bots right now so If I were you I won't go to that channel to promote your projects. There was even one argument before that Telegram members is a good indication how successful your project will be, LOL.

I wont deny on that "initial impact" thing which is definitely true and as an investor seeing these huge numbers will really give you the impression and the curiosity that this might be a good project.
Mistakes would be done if you directly join up basing into those numbers and not able to observe for a few days regarding on the active interaction of those users.If you see less then you can conclude that majority of them are fake then jump out into the next project until you will find the right one.I'd rather prefer on starting on small numbers and growing gradually because if people will find out the potential of your project it will certainly caught up interest.
