The main reason why people don't like to use Bitcoin as a currency is volatility. Because of that they are never sure how much coins they would need to spend for some goods or services and majority of merchants don't accept Bitcoin directly but you need to exchange it to fiat in some way. Better regulation and legal protection might also help for merchants to get willing to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies more.
For me the best way to use Bitcoin every day as a currency is Bitcoin debit card.

Exactly. No one would want to use something that fluctuates in price over time. Because of the dreaded volatility, Bitcoin serves more as a long-term investment than a real currency for day-to-day transactions. Only stablecoins can be used as a currency since their price is always $1 USD across the market. Until the crypto market becomes more liquid, Bitcoin will be experiencing wild fluctuations in price over time.

Another issue about Bitcoin is scalability. With slow transaction confirmation times and high fees, it'll never be able to obtain massive traction within the mainstream world. While the Lightning Network aims to fix this, it's still not mature enough for mainstream transactions. Regulation is another thing too. Depending on government's stance on Bitcoin, its usage could either grow or diminish over time. People will not want to use something that's considered illegal by the government (which affects mainstream adoption). As long as prices remain stable, transactions are instant and cheap, and governments support Bitcoin in every way, people will be able to use the pioneer cryptocurrency as a currency for daily transactions.

It's up to us, as crypto enthusiasts, to spread the word about Bitcoin as much as we can. With our efforts combined (community, development team, etc), we could contribute towards the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin in every way. Because if people are not aware what Bitcoin is and how it works, how could you expect them to use it as a currency? Hopefully, the pioneer cryptocurrency will be here to stay for a long time as it grows into a solid financial ecosystem that's able to rival existent payment processors as we know them. Just my thoughts Grin

"A currency, in the most specific sense is money in any form when in use or circulation as a medium of exchange, especially circulating banknotes and coins." -Wikipedia

I can confirm that Bitcoin is already a currency as it is used to trade for different goods and services. For example on exchanges or like on Bitcointalk for services.  Wink Wink

Absolutely.

Thousands of online services accept Bitcoin as a payment method. Just due to people mindset that would prefer old school payment methods, but future is around us. Let's look into it.

The more ways to spend there are - the more adopted bitcoin is.
Thats basically it.
At this point you can spend it on SOME online resources and probably can live off of it.
We need to overcome 2 important checkpoints - when MOST of online resources will accept btc and when SOME of irl shops will accept btc

People still compare Bitcoin with Gold. Maybe on the value side it is correct, Store of value, but it is still a currency with which you can pay for services and goods. So it could be seen as a currency and gold in one.

I think it is impossible to do so, just because we have different generations and not all people in the world are able to use smartphones or computers to pay for their goods. Bitcoin will always stay as an online currency and will be used in a few services, where people accept it.
I strongly agree with you, it is very difficult to make Bitcoin a payment tool that can be used by all people, many difficult problems that must be resolved first to make Bitcoin a payment tool, such as education about Bitcoin and equitable infrastructure throughout the world.. so let time run, until the problems that currently confront can be solved by the next generation

One of the worst problems is volatility... this is what makes people look at bitcoin as an investment, a way to get return... this is why all of us hold bitcoin instead of spending it like a normal currency...
Other issue is the block size and network capacity to handle serious escalation...
I hope that, as time runs, evolution and adoption will take care of these issues

This will happen until we enter the maturity stage. Due to the high volatility and manipulation, most companies might distance themselves and only few adopt it. We are going to get past all these hurdles as time unfolds.

That is true.

Companies would be really distancing themselves with cryptocurrencies, not all of them though. As far as I know, there are some companies that pay their employees with Bitcoin and being taxed. It will just circle there I think. In our country, people will be worrying about it since it is labeled as a scam and these scammers are using these cryptocurrencies as an escape route with their ploys. If people are not educated about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, that will continue to happen.

One way or another, only after a generational change will the cryptocurrency be fully appreciated by humanity.  At least today, large companies and various financial institutions are starting to use blockchain in their work, and this already says a lot.  In addition, you need to convince people of the usefulness of cryptocurrency, and especially to remove the government’s Monopoly on increasing paper money so that our home budget ceases to depreciate.  Nevertheless, for a few more years only a narrow circle of cryptocurrency users will use cryptocurrency.

Large scale enterprises and online market are now starting to have crypto payment especially  Bitcoin among its mode of payment. The trend is now popular because of the wider adoption of bitcoin and its usage. Having local stores implementing bitcoin payment is also a great idea and I have a store around my vicinity which has this but the usage is quite low.

Probably with QR technology. If we can get the banks and the shops somehow agree that mobile phones are now insanely high tech enough to get payments, we could literally make sure that Banks give out "tablets" such as ipad but more in depth and maybe even made just for the banks like the machines we use now for credit cards, so instead of credit cards and debit cars and passwords, every shop could have an ipad with banks app on their phone and they could write any number they want for requestion money and create a QR code about it, the person buying will read that QR code on their bank app, the money will go from one place to another. That technology actually exists, we just need it more common and we may want some bitcoin company to intervene and allow us to do it from not bank app but bitcoin related app.

I believe this is all about the integration of bitcoin and other coins into the global economic/financial system. Crowds know about bitcoin, bit it's still that that easy to get used as a currency just like paper dollars. This is a progress, keep in mind.

It's not like that you have to teach those boomers lol. You can surely teach your friends and encourage them to learn about Bitcoin and its technology. It's not impossible to actually make people interested especially in this hype trend.

One of the worst problems is volatility... this is what makes people look at bitcoin as an investment, a way to get return... this is why all of us hold bitcoin instead of spending it like a normal currency...
Yes, but volatile also make people just forget about everything and just following the hype and then throw away Bitcoin because they are searching for quick money.

Digital currency is starting to become a trend nowadays because we mostly use our computers and smartphones in our daily lives, so we can easily get other people to get into bitcoin and use it as a currency when making an online payment with their bills and online shopping. As long, we make them believe that bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is legitimate and not a scam at all.

The reason to adduce to why it might not be visibly possible to use bitcoin as a currency is fluctuations. Currencies of the world are unlikely to be fluctuating, they can only devalue.
To this extent, bitcoin will be operating as digital currency.

Indeed, it is because we are not only spreading information about bitcoin here on this forum. There are lots of people who are introducing cryptocurrency in so many social media platforms which is really a good way to promote because we all know that social media is now the thing on the internet, we know that there are lots of users on a particular social media platform every day, not only students but also some businessman are using it for some business purposes. That is really a good way to encourage everyone we know to use bitcoin, and a better thing could happen if we could encourage some people with money and who really want to earn using bitcoin.

Definitely, there are now some companies or malls or any other commercial stores that are accepting bitcoin as payment, this is really a good idea because it can really make every transaction when others recognized that using bitcoin is really good by paying their stuff with the safe and fast transaction.

Bitcoin is a currency.

Back in the days when the civilization was young, we traded with rocks/silver/gold etc.
Nowadays we wouldn't even consider using gold for buying goods. We see it as a financial security for example.

If people are not educated about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, that will continue to happen.

That's certainly true, mate. While the number of companies using Bitcoin as payment method is low, it's hoped that adoption will increase over time as people become aware of the cryptocurrency within the mainstream world. It's up to us to "deliver the message" in order to attract as much people into Bitcoin as we can. With increased demand, comes increased adoption. It's no wonder why most companies have been away from Bitcoin and crypto in general because of their extremely low adoption worldwide (aside from being unstable in price). Regulation is necessary in order to bring legitimacy to the entire crypto/Blockchain space.

Considering that Bitcoin is still volatile in price and not scalable for the world, people are unable to use it as a currency today. Maybe sometime in the future, Bitcoin will be used as a currency if developers pave the way for scalable solutions (like the Lightning Network) to transform the Blockchain in its entirety. Of course, it's now possible to send Bitcoin payments at a fraction of the cost using the Lightning Network. But the solution is still not ready for widespread use within the mainstream world. Some time is needed to allow Bitcoin to grow in development and innovation. Only then, people will be able to use Bitcoin as a currency more thoroughly instead of hoarding it like a store of value.

Nonetheless, there are many ways for us to get people to use Bitcoin as a currency for their daily lives. As long as we introduce the benefits of Bitcoin to the world, the time will come where people in mass will adopt the pioneer cryptocurrency as a real currency for daily payments. There's no rush in this, since Bitcoin has been doing fine after all these years. Remember, "slow and steady wins the race". Bitcoin may have been slow at scaling for the world, but in the end it'll win the race as it's doing everything in the most decentralized way possible (unlike other cryptos like BCH and BSV). Which is why, I believe that sooner or later Bitcoin will become used as a serious currency for the whole mainstream world to enjoy. Just my thoughts Grin
