Hi,

How can I delete my account?

I am missing the "Delete this account" button under Profile --> Actions. And yes, I have tried several browsers.

I have tried searching for help as well, but searching on this forum apparently doesn`t work anymore, and DuckDuckGo serves me no answer either.

Trying to find moderators or admins to help me is also hard since that the "Members" list is defective as well.

Any help is appreciated!

It's not easy to find things with the forum search engine, it's true, but there is no such option as deleting your profile (at least i'm not aware of one). You can direct your question to the mods as you did now.

I was thinking more in the lines that recently I have just gotten error messages, but today searching actually worked! Was just a bug then.

Not anymore, manually, but it used to be it seems. Check out Help --> Profile and scroll down or just Ctrl + F *delete*.

I wil lreport my own post and see if I get the moderators` attention.

Dude just leave your account. If you just leave it and not use it then it's pretty much almost like it got deleted anyway. You're honestly wasting your time trying to delete your account.

Maybe he is trying to delete his account and create another one with the same email but using another username (?), which also isn't a necessity since he can just abandon this account and create one with his desired username using another email and he would be fine since his account is not banned and it won't be against the rules.

Mods can't delete your account either. They can delete your posts or ban you.

Ofcourse it is possible to delete accounts. Site admins will have that option, for sure. Whether they don`t care or are just lazy is another issue. I am pretty sure they are obliged by law if they are registered in the US or EU or other similar areas.

Technically they could delete your account. But could they do it without potentially messing some stuff up? Maybe, I don't know. I personally haven't tried developing an SMF forum. The most likely reason(I think) is that the trouble they could potentially face by deleting certain accounts is not worth risking; as they could just disable a certain account if someone broke a rule without possibly risking anything.

Just leaving the account won`t satisfy me. What if someone else wants my username? If I just leave it will be "gone" forever.

If someone wanted a certain username and it was already taken, they can simply choose another username. That's not a huge problem at all.

My OCD forces me to delete the accounts I don`t use.

You can delete your posts and change your email to a disposable one. There is no personal information that you cannot delete  so not quite sure how you think EU or US law applies to this.

Deletion of account is possible to Modz. But, it will not guarantee that asking from them to delete your account will be possible for there is a purpose of this.

Why would you delete your account anyway?


I am.having good time here in the forum and I consider my account precious. Maybe, you need to think again why you need to delete your account.
