The best ways for me to learn about new altcoins is to come on bitcointalk and go on the bounties page, there are a lot of new coins there that are doing their bounty and their airdrops there and they have all of their information there. From there I can go on their website, links on their social media and start doing my research from there, there are countless new coins there

I advise you to subscribe to telegrams on cryptocurrency channels, now there are a lot of them. There are assorted various projects and you can learn a lot of news from the world of cryptocurrency.

Apart from Google being your closest friend, I don't believe someone can just decide to bash into crypto without having a friend or brother who already did and understand it and which is ready to teach him or her.

I use social media such as twitter or discord. Also Telegram is not bad.
But you should investigate carefully each member's activity before you could trust him.  I never look on ranks, titles, points, etc. I look on a content of posts only and try to understand what exactly  someone is doing on a forum or a media, and how valuable could be his info.
Also any info must be checked at least on 2-3 different sources.  This must be the rule.

If you want to know more about altcoins I will recommend you to read the whitepaper of that Altcoin on which you want more information. because whitepaper is the only thing where you get all the information about that Altcoin from start to End and also follow their Twitter handle because most of the Altcoins update their twitter which all the latest news on them.

But I think the most effective is in here in bitcointalk forum since people share's their experience.
