2018 the year of correction?

For both Bitcoin and markets, people have been saying this for years. So many people used to tell me that the stock market has historically crashed every 8 years, and yet it hasn't always held up.

People like to predict, but TBH no one knows 100%.

You can call if whatever we what, but what we witnessed last year was a bubble that is ready to be burst so it eventually pop and we all know what happened to the rest of the year. So yeah might be a correction year not just in terms of price but the attitude of the investors as well, majority of fomo is gone and what's left is stronger hands and smart investors.

Maybe you are right about it but we should consider the investors who dumped their coins during the time that the price was overreached. Ofcourse, investors would dump when they see a huge profit on their investment which would make the supply abundant and of course the price would drop.

It's true, we may see the bad side for this year with this bear market but it will deliver benefits in the future. It can possible to be seen on 2019 and so on. While halving will come on 2020 so that can affect the price perfectly. Bear now, bulls later.

I don't think investors will do that since they are aiming more and more profit rather than of losing. Investors are having a big role in here, they do the market work good as well as the participation of the community(users) and without them, it absolutely crypto will never survive.

looking at the charts in 2014 is the same as 2018 so I think until the beginning of 2019 the price of bitcoin will experience a continuous correction then at the end of 2019 the possibility of bitcoin prices returning up slowly

True that. I mean BTC it self pumped up toalmost 20,000 USD now we are suffering from that enormouse spike with a year long price correction. In hindsight, i think the price adjustment or correction is over soon. In the mean time, i myself just by Bitcoins and Ethereum left and right. Who knows when the bull market starts right?

Well, last year, we also had a consistent year for the bulls, so in this case, we just have to assume the bears also have to show they are not that impotent in the space as well.

Actually, for the most part of this year, it was a pretty full blown corrective year, even though we still had some up and down moment in between, but it is a pretty healthy one to me as far as I am concerned, which is actually good. For now, I guess we will have to wait and see how next year or towards the end of the year would bring.

Yup, it could be the year of correction. You can be more careful about your investment. But the providers should also be careful about their investments and its potential growth. The security system should be increased and the protection against the hackers should be more accurate.

Even though the year 2018 is not over yet we can say that it has not been really pleasant if you bought during the peaks, however this does not mean a whole year was spent "correction" considering only the first 3-5 months has been bear and dropping whereas all the other months have been about the same price and that means it is not a correction in the sense that the price drops to what it suppose to be.

If we take the word "correction" as dropping or increasing to the rightful place than we can say that only the first months of this year has been like that. I think 2018 is the year of "idleness" because most of this year has been around at 6 thousand dollars and 7 thousand dollars, we have spent more days at these range than any other price which means 2018 has been a "stagnant" year.

I think you are right. We are now seeing a low but fairly stable price after last year's skyrocketing. I hope we see a high but stable market price in the next year.

I hope Bakkt will be the trigger for the Bull market and it will push us back to a even higher ATH in 2019. 

Bakkt itself won't do much in the short term considering how they are using the OTC market to stock up on coins. It's very likely that they have enough coins already to last them a good number of months.

I think it's more likely to see the market react in a negative manner to Bakkt with how people think it's such a big deal, while its effect on the market won't be felt immediately. Don't get me wrong, on paper Bakkt is a big deal, but there isn't much to be bullish about in the short term with the aforementioned in mind. The other side is that we don't even know if there will be enough demand, because the demand for crypto is known to be very low during bear markets.

Coinbase already took out its index fund due to that. Bakkt in case the demand is there, will affect the market after a couple of years. OTC market -> spot market are different worlds.

This has been mine stance on the launch of BAKKT and the amount of OTC trade going on is affecting the volume on main exchange and if this persist this way I don't see how the price will pick up. What I see here is that there are a lot of invisible hands in play now and retail investors are feeling like a pawn in the hands of the institutional investors

The dominance of bearish market this year is really painful to others because of the fact that they bought some last year and really continue to hold while watching bitcoin price crashes into an unexpected price level after hitting new ATH last year while others force to sold at lower prices.

But on the brighter side, it's really a good thing for me that this crash happened so we can see what is really the "real" bitcoin price without the involvement of hype of fake pumps. I think we now know at what price level we can considered as strong point of bitcoin price and we can used that as reference to help us to plan a better strategy.

As always, people just have to remained patience and don't rushed things.

In crypto world and in real life as well. The world has been seeing a lot of countries and companies and even the stock market in general a drop and because of that the general wealth of the world has been getting down really a lot and that of course affects bitcoin world as well. When a regular person has stocks and has been investing smartly do you think he would consider putting money up on bitcoin as well when his "safe" investment is going down ? No. He will consider that when he is making a lot of profit from it tho.

So this shows us that the more wealth there is around the world the more people will get into bitcoin, we have preyed on the fact that there has been x10 profit makers in the crypto world so others should join and put their money into crypto and make x10 return themselves too. Now we need to show them how we are definitely better than stock market.

In my opinion there is not enough paper money to calculate it out, because folks are going to wish for the price to rise again at every price. Everybody just care profitable assets and stopping in any price is worst than price dropping.

In the end of last year, we were truly going to a level, which I also thought, that it can not continue forever, and so I started to feel the market cap of Bitcoin is growing too fast, but there must be a limitation. But this correction what we are experiencing now, it is something I did not want to see, even if it is healthy in the long term, simply too long

I actually haven't been able to place the real cause of the sustained dip of this year 2018. I have heard several speculations and all have not actually aimed right. If you now say it is a price correction, I wouldn't fully agree as a lot of the token prices have been devalued really below their real prices.

Your coins aren't being burned, you are just exaggerating your feeling.

It's a sensation that you are feeling right now because you are only see down and you rarely see the market to go up right now. This year has been full of frustrating stories but don't give up and keep your plans to follow. The longer you are in this market, you are likely to survive.

I don't think it is wise for you to compare one year to others as this will lump up things.  Last year those that buy cryptocurrencies in 2012 to 2017 were able to sell in profits and because there were selling more than buying in 2018, that brought cryptocurrencies prices down. 
For you to be among the future cryptocurrencies beneficial then you should buy now as 2018 has provided for us another opportunity to buy cryptocurrencies and bitcoin at a very low price and sell maybe in 2020 or 2022 with a very high profits.  Correction and distribution provide us with opportunities to either buy or sell and that is the cycle of this market!
