I think this one is a grey area... I don't think he should receive -ve, altough a neutral feedback warning him not to repeat this anymore *might* be borderline suitable?

It's not like the dude needs merit in order to spam the forum. His current rank (and signature space) are more than enough for most campaigns, bounties,... This, coupled with the fact he's not really straight up begging, might be enough not to clasify him as a "hardcore merit begger" but give him a warning instead?

This being said: i'm not saying that this behaviour is ok... I don't like the fact that people are using these subtile tacticts to hide pseudo-begging, but i don't know if it's an infraction that's serious enough to really do something about it...

LOL, Yeah I have also this on my mind that he/she was not actually asking for merit instead he/she was only after for Merin. I was looking for the word Merin and this is what I got from wikipedia.org

Do beggars on the street stop begging even though most people find it embarrassing and look down upon it? Some people just have no shame and all they care about is getting money (and let's be honest that's all this guy wants his merit for so he can move up a rank). Begging for merit is off topic for a start as well as unnecessary. If people like your post then they'll merit it. In fact, I'd be much more likely to not merit a post if I saw someone asking for it even if the post was deserving.  People who are begging or asking for merit should just be told to stop as a first line and most probably will, but if they continue then maybe negative is appropriate. If there's no repercussions for people continually begging or asking for it then it'll just become more commonplace.

I believe DT has a clear stance on merit begging. They do not tag people for such attempts any more. Previously it was done and then they removed their tags and changed them to neutral.

Still non-DT can (and should) put a neutral trust on the person for begging for merits with the link as reference. Thats to make sure other people who visit their profile page know about the person's inherent nature when dealing with them.

I hope the person in question learns their mistake from this and mends their ways in future and read the forum rules before posting.

I've tagged 2 so far: one red, for a PM asking to buy my account or 800 Merit, and another neutral for PM-begging (with the option to remove it after he earns 12 Merit). The last one also received a temporary ban from hilariousandco for his PM begging.

I don't really mind someone asking for Merit after a good post. It has the opposite effect on me and many others though: they don't get Merit. But it may also help activate some of the sMerit holders who never used it and don't really know what it is yet.

On Youtube it's totally normal to ask for "thumbs up", it's a very annoying habbit once you hear that 12 times per day. As long as the merit begging here isn't that bad, I don't mind. Unless it's by PM, those get reported to Admin instantly

giving him a warning would probably fine, to me it isn't begging. but perhaps just a neutral to give him something to think about because he almost cross that thin line. give him the chance as he misspell it to "merin"    if he translate the thread once again and post it to another local board, that would be another story.
