Mining this coin with CPU or GPU would work well since the mining difficulty is so low.

Another option for mining this coin would be to get one or two of these cool new little USB Scrypt ASICs
http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Sunrise-Hot-selling-newest-Scrypt-144Kh_60215225703.html

*I haven't tried that item before and have no idea if it's a virus/scam so be careful.

There are also more powerful Scrypt ASICs if you feel the need to for more power. LOL

Staking will be fixed one day. The current plan that everyone seems to be happy with is moving to the Ethereum 2.0 code base (which doesn't exist yet). It's a 100% Proof-of-Stake model. That means there is only about 6 to 12 months of Proof-of-Work mining left.

The Ethereum 2.0 code name "Casper" development is coming along quickly and anyone who wants to see their thoughts can check out their public transparent hangouts:

Who is the developer who is going to do that with hempcoin?

I will. If anyone want to help out we will need a new blockexplorer and other things like a PoS mining pool that will work with Ethereum 2.0.

the Destiny team did a pretty successful swap to Expanse assets. and if they have any chance of delivering what they promised, swapping to EXP instead may be a better choice.

I would be into switching to an $EXP token while we wait for Ethereum 2.0. Do $EXP tokens have a block explorer? Can bittrex.com list?

as far as i understand EXP is a clone of ETH, with a more grass root marketing and distribution.  so anything that ETH implements in the future EXP should be able to port over.  DES chose EXP for swap because of that, and DES is the token on the EXP platform.

here's their thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1370260.0

something to keep an eye on since we are considering a swap also.

Hi THC community, I was accepted to the Microsoft bizspark Azure platform and they have given me $600 a month of free hosting for 3 years. It comes with the possibility of even more free hosting if needed. I'm thinking I will host the HTML5 hemp cash wallet there. @fartbags told me it cost $300 a month to host before it was shut down due to these costs. I'm peer reviewing the code right now. I will try to make optimizations so it can handle more users for cheaper.

I can donate 5,000 coins for an Air drop like last time. When I ran that last time it went viral in Indonesia.

Hey guys...

Just fired up the website permanently hempcoin.org. We linked to the working block explorer.

Looks like THC is riding HEMP. THC is the original NO PREMINE Coin.

We are open to ideas. We do not want to change the wallet that would warrant any type of fork. The code has run perfect for some time leaving no room for suspicious hoards of coins. Hempcoin remains true to 100% authentic.

Does the wallet not need to be updated just for heartbleed bug or similar things?

2 years seems like a long time to not update a wallet.

If anyone is willing to update the wallet without damaging the credibility of the THC we are open to looking at it. We would test it for a short period before release.

We need any security issues fixed. I believe heart bleed was fixed with the upgrade that happened last time.

What I would want to see if the PoS fixed! I'm not sure how to do it though.

A new check point would be good also. Like where you hard code in the hash of block 1,000,000 into the wallet.

Hempcoin block #1000000
Hash   = 000000000750de0539581c42712ae19ecab35ba4e7bb22313ef37a9efb36c495
Merkle Root = 5060fee7ea3e3b89875fa1305fb7ac09f44ef625226c41e3dab4bc3faac00469

That way if someone is syncing the wallet they know something went wrong if they don't get that at block 1,000,000

It kind of sounds like everybody agrees that somebody with credibility should update the wallet.

How should a person go about finding somebody to do that?

It seems like there must be somebody who advertises that, sort of like http://dev.cryptolife.net/altcoin-repair-alterations/

This seems like a good idea. Most coins get a testnet set up. We should pay a bounty to someone to fix PoS and update any security bugs. BTW this wallet was upgraded 1 time before.

Here is the problem, sorry to be cynical.

A bounty is great for translating or making a logo.

But for fixing code you are saying "Here is some cash. Go to your computer and alter the wallet in a way I don't understand, then I will distribute the wallet to others who, like me, have no idea who you are".

Why not take bounty money and hire a specific person who at least is identifiable, so if he fucks with the wallet you can put a bounty out to have his legs broken?

Of course a public developer doing the work would be a great idea. Unfortunately they are at a premium. I've seen public people who will check wallets to make sure they work correct and have no viruses. Also set it up on a testnet first.

More like THC would need someone with any credibility to take over, period.

Tim: I've reached out to you before, and I'm sure others have before, offering help with absolutely no reply. If you want the coin to keep going you either need to:
A) Be present, active and somewhat timely.
B) Handover the project to the community or someone else.

You had a large number of people offering free work and services about a year ago and you squandered it. We were handing you essentially finished works and yet it was pretty much wasted.

I use to think this project had potential because there was a talented community backing it and investing but here we are, seeing the same pattern repeat and repeat and repeat...
Pop in before a BT removal, tempt a fix, and then nothing. Not even a sense of a fix.

Honestly, if you even gave two shits you could have paid $30 for someone to fork a stable POS/POW base, which a dozen of sites offer as an automated service, and fixed the problem a year ago.

Not hating, just my two cents on this coin. Holding 15k for nostalgia.
