Well so much already asked on this subject. As per my experience some people play on front end do country wise conferences habe offices worldvide and do scam some prpjects habe hidden team and no disclose of office etc and are very much trusted. I met with a coin owner he told me his all story that he and his team did conference and later on people approached them and rush to developer home and snatch their servers and theu are in hospital now again they are rebuilding the team annomously. So it is all a blind game which have plus and minus both.

In any case you take a risk investing into the ICO projects, it seems to me that it is better to make into the projects with the team and office, because they will answer according to the law in case they would have such a desire to deceive investors.

I don't think we can base scam accusations on the fact that the team is anonymous. Even of the key features of crypto is its anonymity. I have seen a lot of projects with the identities of the team being known and yet it turned out to be a scam

Good ICO not only in view of the project but also team work. Many projects are transparent and open with investors despite that they are still potentially a scam. So many project with fake team so you should be more meticulous and detail once in doing research. Scam can happen on any project especially with the anonymous team.

I can only say that I would not invest in an ICO, the development team of which is hidden, and even participate in its bounty company, too, would not.

It doesn't always follow that an anonymous team is heading to be a scam one. But the likelihood is pretty high. And not all projects with team members published are authentic and real. And yes, you should do a lil background checking if what they are claiming is true. Some photos were grabbed from free sites or others are using someone else's profiles. You should distinguish the legit ones from fake profiles.

From the ICO that I observed did look very promising, but there were ICO that was not transparent and the team did not exist and they were not open to everyone. And after I did research and a few months later it turned out that ICO was a fake project. And I'm lucky because I didn't participate in this project.

It should be avoided because they are not transparent so it means that they are not true or they are a scam ICO for sure, every ICO projects must present first their identity in order to gain support from the crowd.

When deciphering between legit and scam ICO's, one of the main things everyone says is "you have a look at the team and see if they're transparent."

The thing is, the whole ideology behind decentralization is that it gives the public control over the economy's trajectory, rather than centralized and specific entities.

I see the Virternity Project, for example (https://virternity.com/), which prefers anonymity, but I'm not sure it means it's a scam ICO.

from their FAQ:

"Why aren't you revealing who is in your team?"

"The members of our team are enthusiastic about the idea of creating the Virternity space for the whole world. We want to avoid “buy-outs” of our specialists and co-workers, and also avoid pressure on them.

Also, given the limited financing at the initial stage, we are using anonymity as a shield for our technological secrets—the specifics of our current and future developments.

Many members of our team have serious jobs in major firms and do not want to advertise their participation in a non-commercial project, in order to avoid conflicts of interest.

In the future, once these factors are less of an issue, we plan to publicly name the founders and key personnel."

Satoshi remains anonymous..

Thoughts?

It is the thought of the team that whenever there is something bad happens they can just get away and nobody will ever find them or know who they are. It is extremely risky to invest on an ico with a visible team, and without a visible team ? it increases the risk tenfolds for me.

It is not always needed to show off your face in the public. I guess if Satoshi already done something to prove it. A good project is a good project even the members are anonymous. We should not adhere to the ideology that every project with anonymous team are scam. Some are good though, sometimes the best.

No these are worst alibis if other developers are doing this, why can't they? they are not putting their name in risk if they run away with investors funds, I do not recommend participating in anonymous ICO it's sure money for them and the easiest too, if they will do airdrops that's ok.

In most of the case, it will be scam and there is only a little doubt that it will conduct aa fair. I would never put my money to such kind of ICO which don't reveal their identity. If they want to be fair, why don't they distribute token through airdrop. By conducting a good airdrop, they may have a good project. One of the example can be DeepOnion which has distributed its token via 40 rounds of airdrop.

Everyone already knows that among the ICO projects there are a lot of fraudulent ones. In order to attract attention, to prove legitimacy and transparency, the ICO team must be open. If such a team decides to remain anonymous, then it has something to hide. Therefore, despite any justification for such an action, such ICO projects should be regarded as potential fraud.

Yes there is a great chance that its a scam. One characteristic of a successful ICO is transparency. If one is being anonymous, there is something unusual on the project. Besides why will you hide the team behind the project if your not going to scam the investors. There is no point. In an ICO, everything should be available for the investors to know what they are dealing with.
Exactly, besides, as I have already said, we need data from developers who, if they have already deceived investors, so that investors can submit to the police for these guys. Now it is vital. I would definitely have done exactly that.

I do not think that if a team is anonymous the project is automatically a scam, because there are a lot of examples like Bitcoin or other successful projects. The main factor is the working product and if such an ICO has a working product, it could give profits.
