I only travel outside the country maybe 3 to 4 times a year but whenever I do I wish there is just one currency that I could use whether it is "real" money or virtual money. I just think it would be more efficient if there is one common currency since the world is getting smaller anyway and traveling the world has been in vogue for quite some time now. I can use my credit card, yes, but it often makes me wonder how much money would I be charged at the end of the billing period if say the currency exchange changes a lot from the time I swiped my credit card. And well, I just don't want the bank charges. Is there a possibility for a crypto to be able to provide this service?

Isnt that what BTC wants. One currency and everyone can use

One currency definitely sounds like a simple solution to such a problem, but I think it would be highly unlikely to happen. Personally, being dependent on one currency would make me uneasy. Like to have options depending on the circumstance, and the luxury of choice.

I don't think people care about how many currencies there are or what they technically pay with, they just care about having immediate, anonymous, secure transactions that don't cost an arm and a leg from anywhere and everywhere and can't be moderated by outside entities. We want a free market where no one controls the funds except for ourselves.

Right now, some coins are inherently better for certain uses than others based on the context of a particular situation. I don't think this will change. The most important is to have a platform that allows this to take place (to use the currencies to buy things, store them, can't be hacked and is super easy to use.)

Just one Ring to rule them all I mean Just one currency ($) to rule them all. This already happened in the all American continent so Lord Sauron would be proud

Maybe this should go to the Economy thread. But yes, I get where you're coming from. I think it is safe to say that we all want to pay things for the price that is listed from the time that we bought it. Maybe a crypto could do this in the future.
But  volatility of cryptocurrency will hinders this to happen, and besides that is why we are here because of this character bitcoin has and ofcourse  majority of the altcoins
Not unless we’re talking about stable coin so possibilities is indeed, but in bitcoin ?no it’s not possible.though I might wrong so correct me if I missed something

I think the possibility of making a Universal single currency is not available in the future also and no one in any country will not accept that especially the countries had the powerful in this situation will not accept this that's why the Bitcoin is also struggling to reach every people in all over the world.

A single currency will make all the traders and brokers very VERY sad all over the globe )

I'm almost sure that every bank today has normal conversion rates for their cardholders.
Talking about paying with crypto take a look here https://www.fintech.finance/01-news/the-payments-race-around-the-world/
There was a sort of race. Participants could pay either with card or with crypto or else while traveling. So infrastructure matters  Smiley
