Just start asking for forgiveness .. At first it will be difficult, then you get used to it. But you need to apologize only if you really feel guilty.

When you forgive, you are accepting the reality of what happened and finding a way to live in a state of resolution with it. You can take your time and it doesn't necessarily have to include the person you are forgiving. Forgiveness isn't something you do for the person who wronged you, it's something you do for yourself. It's not difficult, just take it easy, if it's something unimportant you'll forget about it.

Forgiveness requires feeling willing to forgive. Sometimes you won't, because the hurt went too deep, or because the person was too abusive, or expressed no regret. Do not attempt to forgive someone before you have identified, fully felt, expressed, and released your anger and pain.

If you decide you are willing to forgive, find a good place and time to be alone with your thoughts.

Forgiving is not just for the one who made the sin but also for the victim. To be truly happy, we need to let go all of our grudges against that person.

Remember the good things for the person you want to forgive. Do not think too much about his bad things and try to forget and give him another chance.

Actually instincts as humans, where when we are hurt by someone we must be hard to forgive someone. But, if we are sincere, sincere, and do not hold a grudge against someone who has hurt us, then naturally we can forgive all the mistakes of that person.

What if that person is the one who made us truly happy before but then they hurt us? How can we learn to forgive if we are hurt by those we loved the most?

Isn't supposed to be that you should forgive him/her more, since that person holds so much in your heart. After all, true forgiveness comes within your heart. I am not saying that it is easy to forgive nor to trust that person again. Just let go of all grudges you hold so your can heart can be free again. You can say that it is like gambling your heart once again. Either you can have him/her back again or lose that person, at least you did forgive that person.

To judge or to hold a grudge against someone else is ultimately the same as allowing yourself to be judged on the Last Day - and with the same measure as well.

If, on the Last Day, you have been able to forgive all things, and hold no grudges - then all things you have done will also be forgiven and no grudge will be held against you.

This is the essence of what Jesus tried to teach.

As much as i can understand that, i still have trouble holding to it myself.

Good luck to all ^^

Forgive but never forget ,
There are times that it would be easy to forgive,
The hard part is forgetting it, For what ever reason is the one asking for forgiveness would be forgiven but the mistake that he/she did would be hard to forget.
And you should also know when to forgive someone or just let them go.

Learning how to forgive depends on the person's deed to you. If it's too heavy and you just can't forgive him/her, take time. Wounds aren't healing quickly, there's always the right time to forgive. There are people too that are easy to forgive regardless of what the people did to them.

Forgive but never forget ,
Just forget if you have already forgiven that person, there's always string attached to the past if you will never forget. Your emotion will mix and trigger if you will not forget what they did. It's hard but you have to.

forgiveness is actually divine and because of this most religion advocate for forgiveness.  We can only be perfect and peaceful if we can develop that mindset to be able to forgive those that offend us.

Buddha said : Holding on to anger, is like holding burning coal in your hand to throw at others. You end up hurting yourself more. Jesus Christ said on the cross of the people who crucified him : 'Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do' This is the greatest act of forgiveness practiced by divine souls. On the other hand, resentment, grudges are slow poison, so sooner you let go, the better.

I found these as well:

  • Subvert anger by forgiveness.
1.Jainism. Samanasuttam 136

  • The best deed of a great man is to forgive and forget.
2.Islam (Shiite). Nahjul Balagha, Saying 201

  • Where there is forgiveness, there is God Himself.
3.Sikhism. Adi Granth, Shalok, Kabir, p. 1372

  • If you efface and overlook and forgive, then lo! God is forgiving, merciful.
4.Islam. Qur'an 64.14

  • The superior man tends to forgive wrongs and deals leniently with crimes.
5.Confucianism. I Ching 40: Release

  • If you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
6.Christianity. Matthew 5.23-24

  • The Day of Atonement atones for sins against God, not for sins against man, unless the injured person has been appeased.
7.Judaism. Mishnah, Yoma 8.9

  • Show endurance in humiliation and bear no grudge.
8.Taoism. Treatise on Response and Retribution

  • You shall not take vengeance or bear any grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
9.Judaism and Christianity. Leviticus 19.18

  • Who takes vengeance or bears a grudge acts like one who, having cut one hand while handling a knife, avenges himself by stabbing the other hand.
10.Judaism. Jerusalem Talmud, Nedarim 9.4

  • Moses son of Imran said, "My Lord, who is the greatest of Thy servants in Thy estimation?" and received the reply, "The one who forgives when he is in a position of power."
11.Islam. Hadith of Baihaqi

  • Better and more rewarding is God's reward to those who believe and put their trust in Him: who avoid gross sins and indecencies and, when angered, are willing to forgive... Let evil be rewarded by like evil, but he who forgives and seeks reconciliation shall be rewarded by God. He does not love the wrongdoers.... True constancy lies in forgiveness and patient forbearance.
12.Islam. Qur'an 42.36-43

  • In reconciling a great injury,
Some injury is sure to remain.
    How can this be good?
    Therefore the sage holds the left-hand tally [obligation] of a contract;
    He does not blame others.
    The person of virtue attends to the obligation;
The person without virtue attends to the exactions.
13.Taoism. Tao Te Ching 79

Forgiveness isn't necessarily towards another person, it can be within. Recently, I've learned how to forgive myself. That is because of a mistake I can't move on from, I formatted my hard drive with the codes to my BTC in it. Yea, it crushes me for sure, and for a time, I lost grit and the drive to do it anymore. Yet, for some reason, I came to realize that I can't change what happened so I forgive myself and started to move on. Now, I'm regaining that money is lost through investing and trading again and sometimes playing betting games in Vegascasino.
