Whether you HODL in the hope to sell when the price skyrockets, there are times one has no choice but to sell because situation such as urgent need for money can compel you to sell. I have had that experience before. I will rather leave my coin in my wallet if there are no pressing need than to do panic sale.

Yes, I HODL because I believe the price will go up. But I also have my head on the water, as I bought some fractions of bitcoin this year.

every year the market falls and then grows. if you have been trading in the market for a long time then you will understand me. so I'm sure the market will grow

I have sold most of my assets some time ago, and some of the assets that I hold are assets that I think have good potential to rise.

That's what you call cycle, not just in crypto but all facets of life is in a cycle. Its a bitter lessons to learn but we can't do anything about it because the price will simply not go on parabolic rise and will hit a snagged and bubble has been burst.

As it is in a cycle, we may have seen the tail end of the bearish trend. Sooner or later, perhaps early 2019 the price will be on the road to recovery and just maybe we will see another all-time-high in the next coming years.

I wonder if you HODL because you believe the price will go up? Or are you lost too much already so you don't see any reason to sell because you won't be satisfied with the money you will cash out?
I have this self-conflict for a few months already

Well both is my reason,i trust bitcoin and the other altcoins and tokens in my folio but i must admit that i am also trapped when the big drop happens earlier this year,so rather than cutting losses i decided to HODL still and continue to trust the market that sooner will bring me income and may gain a big profit

Those that buy bitcoin in January and February this year are in serious loses.  Bitcoin is going to recover but getting to above $10,000 this year is not in sight.  I am holding currently with the mind that bitcoin is going to recover and makes another upwards movement that will create another high.  If I have risked capital I will still invest as there is a great hope that bitcoin is going to recover again.

hodling fiat, property or any other asset class is just as risky if no more

divorce 50~100% loss
sued, 100 + % loss
tax system change 100% loss
bank failure 100% loss
QE evaporation of buying power
shares, value can go to zero for any reason including gov policy change.
Capital controls, you wealth is pretty much locked to on location, and not transportable.

BTC.....you can't have them, take them, stop me transporting them, devalue them (ok alts can abit)

I personally don't feel that safe in fiat under any condition, just enough to have a small buffer and buy stuff.
