I've been on and off the beginners board since I came on this forum,i actually thought it could be the right section for a noob to get started and get acquainted with the nitty gritty of the forum, likewise answers to questions..

But topics in the beginners board hardly ever get enough replies, and if it does its probably from a fellow noob who has zero knowledge of the forum, like the very noob who posted or asked the question..its a really funny one and shouldn't be so

I honestly think high ranked up members really should try and provide help to noobs on the beginners board,it will help to develop the forum and get them started the right way..
It really shouldn't be backlash upon backlash, and complaining about bounty signatures, without actually providing any help to better the forum or see noobs educated

A couple of top, notable members are quite active on the beginners' board. And should be credited for it.
Some I believe have been quoted to have put beginners' and help board on ignore cause of the supposed spamming going on there.

And in saying, some of the threads and topics started there are at times redundant and irrelevant and not made with the intention of growing knowledge.
But the legitimate newbies, willing to learn should (and likely would) get the needed assistance.

I'd post there more often if they got rid of the spambies, and the bounty hunters low value stuff.

I looked through your post history ( the OP ), and I managed to award 5 merits spread over 3 post. Now you are ready for the next rank. Smiley

Most of the high ranked users don't follow the board just because there are a lot of garbages, although, I personally don't prefer to ignore.
Another reason can be- people don't want to visit Help and Beginners because most of the question have been answered thousands of time and still newbies are making a thread instead of using the search option. You definitely get bored when you will answer a question couple of time for different users while those are available.

and the bounty hunters low value stuff.
Newbies asked various questions on bounties but we can't say exactly bounty hunters low-value stuff. Low-value stuff are mostly come from signature bounty participants and no campaign counts post in that section.

I often visit the Beginners & Help board and I can’t say I see Newbie questions go unanswered. Often at least one or two high ranking members will comment on threads where the question at hand has two cents of though placed into it, and the author seems to at least have tried to genuinely do a little legwork to grasps the basis.

On the other hand, If the question is placed with an attitude based on "I’ve just got here lads. Let me sit down light my cigar, and tell me all about it", while placing the feet on the table, then, well, the answers may not be to everyone’s satisfaction.

On aggregate, I’d say that the higher ranks take down their tone at least two notches on the Beginners & Help board, and that it is fellow lower ranks that seem to try the "let's play the bad guy" role more often to try to get some attention to their post.

There are many informations and sticky threads to get a newbie up and running on the forum, even without the need to ask a redundant question or start a redundant thread as most noobs do on the B&H board...

I think the major problem isn't the lack of replies in the B&H section, but the lack of desire on the part of the newbies to read, learn and get themselves acquainted with all there is to know

I think it should be a rule to this effect. But rather most members have abandoned the very section that is the building block of the forum. The best way to attract members to that section is to award merits for a number of quality posts in this section.  Grin  Grin

I often see a lot of high rank members who answers repeated questions all over again, they are trying to clean the Newbie section to get rid of the spam posts created by probably alts. You just need an effort in trying to read each and every posts that you think is worth reading.

Few high quality replies is much better than many low quality replies. Tho sometimes it is intimidating make a new reply because you are just repeating the comment of a higher rank. Grin

I am a fan of beginners' board because I just read, read, and read there.  I rare join in the discussion because I am not knowledgeable yet to be part of the intellectual discussion.  Nevertheless, I always see high-ranked members answering the question of beginner members.  The thing that I notice though is the lack of the follow-up to the newbies who ask question.  They never engage in discussion after someone commented on their posts.  I think because the forum is really lacking on notification when someone comments on your posts?

I often see a lot of high rank members who answers repeated questions all over again,

Which is an evidence that there are high-rank members who are really patient and eager to help those newbies out there.  I think we need to commend them because of their efforts.  Some members also seek posts that are worthy of merits to help the community.

I'd post there more often if they got rid of the spambies, and the bounty hunters low value stuff.
You're like the model of generosity and kindness here on bitcointalk, JC.  I wouldn't visit B&H if I had a gun to my head.

Just like Off-Topic and P&S, newbies frequent B&H to increase their activity--or at least they used to when all it took was activity to rank up.  I have to plead ignorance as to whether anything has changed on those sections since the merit system was introduced.  And not to be a prick (or more of a prick), but I'd be willing to help if I thought most newbies were actually reading posts and not just here to spam.

I often see a lot of high rank members who answers repeated questions all over again
That's what I'm talking about.  It's like all the replies we see in the ban appeal threads.  The senior members keep repeating the same stuff:  apologies don't matter, plagiarism isn't tolerated, a permaban means you can't create new accounts, etc.--and yet it's the exact same crap being posted by the people who got the ban.  They just don't read.

I personally don't prefer to ignore.
Another reason can be- people don't want to visit Help and Beginners because most of the question have been answered thousands of time and still newbies are making a thread instead of using the search option.
After a while, you might just change that preference to not ignore B&H (and other boards as well).  And yep, this issue would be so much less of a problem if people would not only use the search function but just do a little reading in general before jumping in as a member.  I've said this a few times before:  I lurked on the forum for months before I finally created an account, but the time I took reading about scams and stuff like that gave me a good idea of what the bitcoin economy is like as well as how the forum culture is.

Nowadays, it's as though bitcointalk is seen as a work-from-home job and not as a discussion forum, and I don't think a lot of people join the forum for the right reasons anymore.  It's kind of sad, and it's very frustrating.

While annoying in Meta, it's not that bad in B&H. This forum is notorious for hiding important information. Even the "unofficial" list of rules is not easy for newbies to find. So I'd say repetitive questions are to be expected and kudos to those who are answering them.

However all that bounty/airdrop/how-do-I-make-money shit should have no place in B&H. It seems to have gone down a little bit recently, not sure if that's due to reporting/moderating or just a result of the bursting bubble.

On the other hand, if B&H is moderated heavily then larger numbers of illiterate newbies would spill over into Meta and other places where we don't want them - e.g. when they ask something in B&H and their thread gets deleted. Not sure what the proper balance should be.

That's because of the bounty. Personally I prefer not to have those or turn of signature in some specific boards, at least in meta and bitcoin discussion. Leave people do whatever in the other section. I am kind of noobs in bitcoin/cryptocurrency. I read most of the stuff regarding bitcoin whenever I get time. But I get bored when I see some shits, specially from higher rank with a signature.
For example-
My opinion that price will be "moon".
Also Year 2140 is approximately date.
Because power of miners rising every day and may be created powerful miner.
Answer is not even kinda related to OP. A sr member is fulfilling the campaign requirements. If signature was turned of on bitcoin discussion, we don't have to face those. Only necessary discussion would be taken place, and people can easily get some worthy post to read.

However all that bounty/airdrop/how-do-I-make-money shit should have no place in B&H. It seems to have gone down a little bit recently, not sure if that's due to reporting/moderating or just a result of the bursting bubble.
I had the same feeling as of you when I first joined the forum. If I can remember correctly, I had reported some post too but those post were not deleted. Now, I have quited reporting such kinda post.

The B&H board is free from any sort of technical discussions whatsoever, this days it's more often filled with welcome messages, stuffs like "I'm new here what's next" and stuffs like that, most times such threads are really unattractive and not enticing for anyone to waste his/her precious time on..

But on the brighter side, you could once in a while bump into worthwhile threads, and most often they are not started by noobs, and the bad side remains that such threads will be infiltrated by spam posts sooner rather than later

I think most high ranked members would continue to ignore the beginners and help board until noobs learn to start discussions worth discussing

I think because the forum is really lacking on notification when someone comments on your posts?

I think there is an option to receive notifications of new replies.
There is a notify option at the too and bottom of any thread, besides, reply and watch. And I believe it would notify you by your email address when a new reply is made.

The problem may be newbies who make post just to increase activity without any desire to learn or take notes.
