Looks like many economies around the world are going to be suffering major downfalls around 2030. The demographic pyramid is completely fucked up in many countries, with locals not having kids because basically millennial cannot afford to live on their own due low wages and high cost of living. In Europe it's all over the place. What grinds my gears is economists saying immigration is the solution and they will pay our retirement funds. This is insanity.

Anyway, do you have a portfolio that makes you comfortable about the future? we are definitely on our own so be sure to have some passive source of income for the future. Hopefully Bitcoin saves our ass and by 2030 we don't have to worry about money anymore.

By then I hope to be on an island somewhere with software that blocks all media coverage installed in my mind, or eyes. I'll leave the rest of the world to get on with eating itself while I rock back and forth watching the water lapping the rocks.

That's contingent on BTC staying alive and successful. If it isn't then I'll be selling my saggy, fuzzy old behind for a quid a ride underneath a railway bridge somewhere.

By the time I'm proper old I'll be amazed if there's a state pension of any sort. It's a ponzi and one that's running out of steam.

Brazil is the one to watch regarding this. Their pension system is staggeringly generous and I've no idea how they'll keep that going for ten more years, let alone beyond - https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/25/world/americas/brazil-pension-michel-temer.html

You shouldn't focus only in bitcoin investments. There are other investment vehicles that can give you more profit. We need to diversify our portfolio for our future. Putting everything in one basket will make us lose everything. There's no assurance that bitcoin will skyrocket even in 2030 so better find other means for you to profit. There's still so many things and innovations that will arise every year which is maybe better than bitcoin when it comes to its performance in the market.

In 2030 - I'm going to live a free life at the expense of my favorite cryptocurrency!  I plan to buy a country house to move there with my family and enjoy life away from factories and hazardous industries. Work is no longer required because I fully provide for myself and my family.
I sincerely believe in it and I know that it will be so.

Hopefully by 2030 I'll be able to live off what passive income I have managed to generate. I have no desire to spend the majority of my life couped up behind a desk and busting my balls just to be able to afford a roof over my head and some food. The problem of not enough children is going to be a big one in future generations. I am in my mid 20s and I know so many of my friends who cannot or simply do not want to have children because of the financial burden as well as the lack of freedom it provides. I think before long there will have to be some sort of incentive in most of Europe for people to have children.

Pay fair wages in secure jobs. Make property affordable.

Since the powers that be have no interest in that, and indeed they're actively incentivised to reduce wages, decrease security and make a roof less affordable, then the decline is inevitable.

They'll eventually pay a massive price for that, and they're starting to now with all the political upheaval, but the people who are doing it now will be dead or counting their money by then so they won't care.

We wish that crypto currency do exists in that time and all countries do accept it or make the market positively so that the community do more stronger and larger. This will create ample opportunities for the people to do their own business related to it and become self sufficient.

Anyway, do you have a portfolio that makes you comfortable about the future?

No. Or maybe yes. It really depends on how high will Bitcoin (and some altcoins) go until then.
Unfortunately the last few months were very bad for accumulating in my case and somewhat spoiled my plans.
Still, if Bitcoin goes high enough, I hope that year 2030 will catch me visiting all the nice places around the world.

I think many technologies that are in fashion now a days will be out dated and there will be some new advancements. If bitcoin will be there then surely I will be doing crypto business on massive level. I would like to launch my own exchange. Well for the 2030 I have not imagined yet, what I will be doing if there is some new currency or method.

It's a ponzi and one that's running out of steam.
It's so very ironic that Ponzi himself got busted for what he did with his scheme, yet the governments of the world have learned so very, very much from him.  The United States certainly did with its social security scheme, which is much like what you described and I know you don't live in the US.

2030?  I hope to be still alive and working, as I don't care for idle hands all that much.  Not sure what the fate of bitcoin is going to be, but I'm actually more curious as to how bitcointalk is going to look like that far down the line.  I wonder if it'll still exist in its present state, whether there will still be signature campaigns and shitposters, and whether we'll still be waiting for the new forum software to be implemented.  2030 may seem like it's a long ways away, but it really isn't--but a lot of things could change in 11 or so years.

Man, I hate contemplating the future.

With you there. I have no doubt that by the time I reach current state pension age, the age requirement will have increased by 5-10 years and the pension will be laughable, if there at all. I have absolutely no intention of relying on the state pension, even in part, for my retirement fund. Luckily, I have a job that is well paying - which makes it that much easier to invest for retirement - and which I actually enjoy. I have no plans to push for an early retirement, and my job is such that I could restructure my duties, drop my on-calls, and go down to some relatively lighter part-time work without much hassle.

As to the fate of bitcoin in 11 years, I'll echo what Satoshi said 9 years ago - "there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume".

What's special about 2030? What data are you looking at?

In developed countries, childbirth rates have been falling for decades and decades. I think it's also a function of economic prosperity, urbanization, and changing cultural norms and not just the increasing financial burdens of millennials relative to previous generations.

Hopefully Bitcoin saves our ass and by 2030 we don't have to worry about money anymore.

If the world's going down the shitter, Bitcoin won't save us. Wink

Re pensions, i think its a worldwide problem. So many countries have an ageing
population with less people to support the pensions.

Not so long ago South Korea were trying to promote conception by letting people
off work early so they could go home and make babies! I cannit find the article
but if anyone is interested here is a worrying report abiut the population crises
in South Korea > https://www.citylab.com/life/2018/08/south-korea-needs-more-babies/565169/

So in 2030 i hope to not be working a day job at least, and more so well before
2030. I will be in my 60's then so I really dont want to think about it for now.
I am hoping on a 5 year plan..............

By the time I'm proper old I'll be amazed if there's a state pension of any sort.

We haven't even hit peak baby boomer yet. The number of adults who are retired and claiming pension is increasing. Look at this chart for the US, for example:

Look particularly at the 50-64 age ranges which are relatively larger, and the 5-19 age ranges which are relatively smaller. In the next 10-15 years, all those baby boomers will be hitting pensionable age, whilst a lower number of Generation Zs will be taking their place. On top of that Millennials are having less children, and so the trend is only going to get worse, with a growing elderly population and a shrinking workforce.

Inspect that same graphic on the different European countries. Many are hitting an inverse pyramid demographic graphic, so it's basically game over for state pensions, not even minimum pensions will be delivered to millennial by the time they are 65 (or 70... since they keep making us work for longer). So we must have our own set of passive income sources, or else we are pretty much fucked, specially those with physical jobs. If your job is not too taxing on your physique you may stretch retirement for longer, but even then, your mind slows down with age and you cannot put as many hours anymore on mental tasks. People often underrate how many calories mental tasks can burn.

I see Bitcoin as a must have in a 2030 portfolio, what else do you consider? Bonds are out of the question, so which stocks would you hold? Will giants like Coke still be a good pick for some passive income through dividends by then? we must start planning now, 10 years can go by very fast.

Anyway, do you have a portfolio that makes you comfortable about the future? we are definitely on our own so be sure to have some passive source of income for the future. Hopefully Bitcoin saves our ass and by 2030 we don't have to worry about money anymore.

No one could really know what would happen in the next years to come, but I guess crypto would be still here but I won't count on it and would diversify my investments to other financial institutions.

IF i say now then it will be unrealistic and in 2030 i have so many plans to do at that time and for now i want to make money because in future for businesses i will need more money for establishing of new businesses and i can buy an established businesses as well.

You are right about this.I refuse to have kids, because of the high prices and low wages.Getting a job is harder than before and the cost of living always goes up.However,I'm glad I paid off my student debt and I don't have any mortgage or debt.I will hope that bitcoin will hit 50-90K USD around 2030 and I will keep my bitcoins untill then.

of course I will do it too, build a business, where maybe 2030 I have run a business as a result of diversifying cryptocurrency, and of course I still hold bitcoin as an investment
