We really can't know for sure who the wallet owners are just by looking at the addresses. The only people that are likely to know who these address owners are people who run exchanges used by these "whales". Likely, Bitfinex or Binance. But of course, they really can't expose who these people are due to privacy reasons.

naming them is pointless. but knowing values that move through exchanges is the important part.

after all if a big name was to be named they would never admit the exact minute they would buy/sell as that would hurt their own profitability.
but just think about how much needs to be invested to be a whale
to have 1% of the circulation as a elit group and in that group be someone that has atleast 1% of that
you need atleast 2100btc

so think about how much you have invested and you will be roughly in that ball park

$100 algae
$1000 tadpole
$10,000 goldfish
$100,000 salmon
$1m shark
$10m whale

When you say whales, who exactly are these whales?  any names?

Under the abbreviation "Whales" hiding ordinary people, but having on their accounts a huge amount of money can move the market in any direction.
Of course no one knows their names and where they live, as it violates their safety. What's that for? It is enough to see many of these wallets that store many tokens on their accounts and are able to change this price. Often, the owner of several wallets is one person or Fund to share the risk of losses.

Whale is not a name but I think it is a group of rich people who have a lot of money to manipulate prices or pump and dump coins as they like.

Whales dont have names because they dont want to be exposed.
One of the reason is because they manipulate the market which by extension is illegal.

Whales can be someone one who had invested quite a lot of money in crypto, when it was still very early stages. As a result their wealth has ballooned over  the last few years, even if crypto is a fraction of it was at its height these people are still well in the green.

There isnt really a "who" its just a subsection of people invested in the sector. Each coin has its own set of whales that may be only relatable to that coin/token and are not considered a whale in anything else. For example, someone who got in very early in an ICO or someone who has been accumalating BTC over the last 10 years, just cause they are a Whale in the token or BTC doesnt mean they are a whale in the other.

You will find it difficult to link a name/person to a whale, because these people take good precautions to hide their true identity. They have to do this, because rich people can draw some attention from some criminal elements, if they know their true identity.

Bitcoin whales are also often targeted by beggars and spammers and nobody wants people like that to bug you for money 24/7.  Roll Eyes

Some of these people also wants to avoid unnecessary attention from law enforcement agencies. <Market manipulation is frown on, by some governments in some countries.>  Roll Eyes

whales are the person who can change the market according to their will. All the bear market is generally created by them.
They have huge amount of money or coins which they use to buy or sell shares in market and thus big money movement in market causes pump or dump.

No one can know their names, but whales are always important because they can make the market grow a lot and bring a nice profit for them and also a good profit for who have coins, but also they can make the price go down and make people lose money if they sell in a loss.

Whales are usually big investment firms. They're the ones moving funds.
As for individuals, people like the Winklevoss Twins, they're holders. They're not influencing the market in any way.

Whales are big time gamblers.  They have a huge gambling bankroll and get whatever perks they want at casinos.

Also, the markets have a bunch of trading bots that are 10 steps ahead of regular individuals. Whales and trading bots control the markets, period. You have to suck it up and play along with them.

Given to the market that there's "someone" who holds a lot of shares or certain percentage of the total supply of bitcoin. And these are the whales, yes nobody knows their names and we can't name names on who really they are.

It's a norm for those who have been in such markets that when there's a manipulation happening it is being pointed out to the people who have bigger position to the market and these are the so called "whales".

As the supply of BTC is limited and blockchain is transparent, it's not too hard (unless they've used any mixing services) to find OTC trades that go on in the markets, be it done in any markets. Whales, according to me, are those high-profile entities/institutions who've got the balls to nail the markets towards the direction they want it to go in a matter of hours based on the % of total BTC share they claim to have in their pockets (mind well, the share out of current total BTC circulating supply). Currently, the competition is too tough that one single whale is not enough to shake the hell out of markets due to not having interests in making several exchange accounts (if they choose to go by them and not OTC), so they form a group of authorities responsible for such big and drastic movements taking place in the markets everywhere as each whale then decides where and what amount of manipulation will be done by them.
