Got it. Normally, you/he would have to sign a message from a staked address and send it to one of the admins.

However, I've checked your/yours friend post history and I couldn't find a single mention of a Bitcoin address that you own. So recovering it may be way harder than the normal.

Then just follow the standard (longish) procedure on Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords, and see  @sncc’s [Guide] Bitcointalk account security for further details. The key resides on having previously sent a signed BTC message that you can prove as associated with the account (see the above references for details).

He contacted me immediately cos he couldnt create another account. Plus he I think he has a secret uestion, not sure

Account can be locked through the link which is sent to the registered email,this feature is added to stop using the hacked account so your friend maybe clicked that link accidentally?

I read sometime back, that there is bug in this forum and account can be locked if you use Secret question feature.

It's not a bug. And he didn't use the Secret question (just check the SecLog).

PSA: ACCOUNTS WILL BE LOCKED IF THE SECRET QUESTION IS USED TO RECOVER IT
