Maza has had plenty of publicity.
What it lacks is credibility because nobody has started promoting it adequately among the tribes.
When someone seriously starts promoting it as a tribal currency it will jump to the sky. I'm willing to donate a fair amount of my coins to a solid distribution effort but it has to be directly to people for whom the coin is intended.
A lot of MZC holders are probably willing to donate substantially to distributing the coin but it has to be in a practical way.
Well a big prob is what stops white men in Canada like me from saying hey I am one of these um "mazu's" now can I have some free MZC? But.. maybe its not a huge prob if its distributed more globally. What I really think would help the people the coin was made for (and give it more point to hold then just speculation for me) would be if some Lakota trades people would set up online shops to sell some of their work for MZC. Then wealth is actually flowing into their community, instead of just kinda spreading around mzc in a way that might actually decrease its value as everyone sells it off with nothing else to use it for.

Certainly that applies to all coins in a theoretical way. In pactical terms, altcoins need some "hook" to become mainstream. All the phony "buy x with altcoins" do nothing since they offer nothing really. But Mazacoin potentially offers a real "hook" for altcoins. Natives have an authentic reason for wanting their own currency and a lot of other people in other places understand. If Lakota sellers of art and other stuff offered discounts for paying with Native currency it would get publicity, and if the Native currency they accepted was an altcoin it would be a mainstream practical use that would be supported by others. The big question right now is which currency Natives will use. Maza will always have some relevancy because it was the first specifically Native altcoin. But other tribes might create their own coins or whatever. American Natives are leading.

The current market cap is less than 100k. What if someone where to buy up over half of the Maza coins in circulation? Do you think it would increase the price? Also is Maza a POW coin?

If someone wanted to try and buy half of Maza the value would go up very quickly, the market cap is just a snapshot of the latest trading price applied to the total supply. But recently Maza trades at low volumes so things can change fast. POW just means you can mine it, the same equipment that can mine Bitcoin can be used to mine Mazacoin, as it shares the SHA256 algorithm.

With Mazacoin being SHA-256, same as bitcoin, how many of the miners, do you think, are actually native indians? Isn't it just bitcoin miners, who then mine any old SHA-256 coin? The miners get their hands on the coins before anyone else does, what if most of the miners are actually non-indians? Wouldn't it make sense, to have an indian coin, where it is the indians who do all the mining, therefore the indians get their hands on the coin first? I don't think there is any controls over who mines the coins though, so although it is named after something indian, it might actually be anyone on the internet(including non-indians) who actually are mining the coin.

Thats why I am saying its not about getting native people to baghold all the coin. Its about using the coin to get actual wealth into their community. We have a liquid market and a well secured network (everyone in the world shares this asset.) But its obviously branded such that a merchant who was from a tribe would probably find alot more customers than any other merchant accepting it. We don't even need it to be mass adopted in the tribes, just have some merchants accepting it, and thus causing wealth to flow into their community. If they just had all the crypto but it constantly lost value cause no one outside also wanted to buy it, I would not say that actually increases their wealth.

Doesn't seem to be up to date. 2/secondly (i should know this but haven't massed around with wallets in longtime) if after wallet is downloaded and synced and I restart qt wallet and hasn't caught up with latest blocks, can i add a password then? before caught up? as remember when adding a passord from longtime back, wallet shuts down, then restart later after adding a password

All wallets will shut down when you add a password but it will only lose a few seconds synch time. Password is important enough to spend a few seconds on. More security if you create the wallet on an offline computer then download the blockchain and when you need to send coins rescan with the wallet.dat you created offline.

website updated!
mazacoin.org
Was a cpl weeks ago but didn't see anyone mention it here yet. Sounds like they are gonna be going on a major tour to promote the coin to the ppl it was actually made for. I think we all agree this is something we really need to have happen if we want the coin to be more than just a speculator only crypto like so many others. And who better to spread the word than Payu himself!

What is that circular thing with a Mazacoin address in the video, and what is the significance of the other letters around the address? ~~~~~~~~~ Better than casinos, Maza needs to sell tobacco. "In 2012, tobacco companies spent $9.6 billion marketing cigarettes and smokeless tobacco in the United States alone. This amount translates to about $26 million each day, or more than $1 million every hour." http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_statistics/fact_sheets/economics/econ_facts/index.htm"The world tobacco industry generated sales of almost $721 billion in 2010, according to MarketLine. Cigarettes represent the leading market segment with revenue exceeding $681 billion..." http://www.reportlinker.com/ci02053/Tobacco.htmlSomeone start a tobacco wholesaler that accepts only Mazacoin? The MZC market would be very volatile for a while but nobody would lose money.

Have dispensaries, online store and incentives. Raw tobacco and related products. Pay in cash or with MZC receive a discount with MZC. Even MZC branded e-cigs half the profit buys back into MZC to invest in the currency and future MZC assets. You can buy bulk e-cigs on alibaba for very cheap, rebrand them and sell them http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=esigarette

Their retailers would need to accept local currencies e.g. dollars but they too would prefer Native currency if their wholesaler only dealt in it.
