The last few days were very positive for Ethereum (ETH) and price increased by almost 60%. That's a big sign for ETH to have a claim for taking back the second position on coinmarketcap. XRP overtook ETH a few weeks ago and this fast reaction of ETH would be a positive sign for the entire crypto community. It was always a questionable move that XRP could overtake ETH and the recent price trend would back the importance of ETH as second crypto behind ETH.
For XRP, being very overvalued, this can result in another problem and damage of trust. In opposite, ETH was very undervalued based on it's use-case and offers an opportunity to buy some cheap ETH.

What's your opinion on this issue? Will ETH surpass XRP and stay in second place?

Ethereum has recently lost its second place in the cryptocurrency ranking. And I am sure that Ethereum has all chances to return to the second place again. XRP is not the cryptocurrency that should be on the very top I think.

not only ETH and XRP, but all the coins are now starting to crawl up little by little and of course the ones that yesterday bought at the lowest price have already enjoyed profit. I am sure slowly will continue to rise

I think this is up for market to decide, Ethereum and Ripple want to topple Bitcoin to be the number one project in he space ahead of BTC, but they must first settle for the second spot first, I know Ethereum community and fan boys will want it to be back to second spot but it seems to me that Ripple have huge bag to pump their tokens, I think time will tell

I saw last time that it needs 5 more billion dollars added to Ethereum's total market cap so it can overtake the 2nd place for the ranking on coinmarketcap.com. The rapid pump that went on Ethereum is amazing for this year end.

I'm expecting that it can overtake XRP again, if it does I won't be surprised.

Whether they will stay on their own backyards, I'm an Eth loyalist. And regardless of its rank, ETH is still my top altcoin on my portfolio. But I do believe that ETH will be back on 2nd place soon. And with the current adoption of binance did to XRP as base pair, I think this made XRP even stronger but still I'm all in for eth.

It seems that Ripple creators are planning to raise the price and capitalization of Ripple even higher, judging by how quickly they develop the project and how many agreements they sign. Ethereum has a great potential for growth, but I think that at the moment Ripple looks better against Ethereum and the situation is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Let's wait, I think the good news will soon come from ethereum, maybe soon ethereum will be able to reclaim its position. Even so, I think ripple is also a strong rival to be defeated because ripple has a lot of trust.

with huge supply and managed separately. I think XRP can be developed continuously with powerful and independent payment utilities. But I still favor on ETH going back. That will become clear if their Dev improves the ETH network successfully. I always follow the news about ETH.

ETH is backed by the huge whales support, that is why even on high volume marketcap it is still in 2nd position, so i think always investing in eth whenever it is down will give you profit.

With the end of the ICO glory era, ethereum will be difficult to regain strength, I think the surge in ethereum this time is only temporary due to the hardfork issue.

After the altcoin began to rise again, there is a possibility that ethereum will be a support platform for a number of projects again, so I agree that ethereum will return to second place and shift xrp I want to see.

No one knows. I think both of their performance is pretty close right now. But I will still choose Ethereum over XRP because Ethereum has proven more capability when it comes to development than any other altcoins.

The battle of the second place at coinmarketcap is pretty close between XRP and ETH in terms of marketcap but the volume was taken advantage by ethereum. If ETH will surpass $200, there could be a big chance thay it may take the crown to XRP. No one can tell since XRP was pretty sctive lately and make its big move towards well known partnerships for banks and remittances. Let's just invest with these two since they all have the abiliities to provide huge return in the long run.

A lot of updates will come from next month and we will see a lot of updates next month. ethereum will be very easy to take its second place from ripple consider ripple has no any utility usage and it's a security and speculation coin.

There will be a lot of this close encounters when it comes to overwhelming each other. Both coins had a great potential. Ripple has been surprisingly moving this year aside from the market conditions. While Ethereum keeps on coming back even when its declining.

Ethereum have good potential crypto currency so many peoples are think like that, But Ripple is a banking sector platform so many organization is follow the Ripple project. May be next year second quarter is possible on Ethereum beat the Ripple marketcap. I personally believe both are maintained a same level in future.

Yes, I think it is very feasible for ethereum to return to second place in the marketcap. In my opinion the competition position between ethereum and ripple is the greatest.
