How many altcoins are actually worth something?

Around 5-10 altcoins will do. I have that number and not so much with those because I have invested mostly my money with bitcoin and ethereum. And the other altcoins aren't so popular but it's not heavily invested, it's like an alt that I just wanted to have and hopes something good but I'm okay if nothing goes well with those alts too.

Just like me, prioritizing always invests in bitcoin and ethereum. It sounds simple, but that's my way to minimize risk, rather than having to invest in alt that is uncertain and not feasible.

if by "worth something" you are not talking about price and profit then the number of coins that are actually "worth something" is about a handful, 10 coins tops based on what i have seen. majority of altcoins are mere copycats where the creator has simply forked another coin sometimes with no change and sometimes with trivial changes. and the remaining little that have unique ideas are very limited in numbers and those that implement that unique idea in a good way are even less in numbers leaving us with a handful of them.

Majority of existing coins are just duplicate of existing coins and some of this just pump and dump coin I think only 200 coins or roughly 10% have actual value and usage, but many new coins are coming in because some coins that used to have value suddenly people are dumping for another one with same features.

There's a lot of cryptocurrency and almost everyday new cryptocurrencies are being created but only few have worth, I don't know every cryptocurrency so I will not give any numbers on how many coins really worth something but for me only coins that has its own unique uses and can solve any real world problems has a worth. We have thousands but majority are just a copy from existing cryptocurrencies, huge example of these are those Bitcoin fork coins, while some are just useless that are only created to scam investors.

based on the history of your topics i am guessing you are looking to make profit from trading altcoins in which case every single coin out of 2000+ altcoins are worth something but only for a certain amount of time.

the trick is finding that perfect timing for entry and also exiting that coin instead of looking for "worth" of a coin to invest in it. because history has proven that altcoins with a great design and a high value never give you a good profit because the shitcoins always get pumped more and take the high ranks in coinmarketcap.com.

Some of them are having a working product but they are still can't get a lot of attention from speculators. I guess it's no more than 200 crypto. Some coins in this list can be categorized as zombie coin too.
But a lot of them are still trying to find the solution to not pegged with payment gateway companies just like VISA.

They may not seem to work for the moment, it's very natural. But many of these projects are actually close to achieving something. From the outside, it may seem like a lot, but remember, most of these projects work in different areas, almost none of them meet the other. This is the case in real life. There are hundreds of thousands of brands in the shoe industry, and many of them work just fine.

like QSP for example, it is worth because of its usability securing the smart contract.
Stellar, for its blockchain system. This blockchain is the fastest blockchain that we ever have until now if people are using cryptocurrency as their form of payment. Stellar is the way to do that because it can do 1000 transaction per second while other cryptocurrencies only can do at most 20 transactions per second.

There are no definite numbers that can mention the quality of the price of an altcoin. But my calculations in private may only have 1 percent Altcoin that has the quality to last for a long time. Most only a shitcoin is lost quickly and ultimately has no value. We cannot avoid this because indeed if an altcoin wants to survive the coin must have a full support from the developers. Without strong support from the team, the altcoin will disappear so quickly.

Exactly. Almost all crypto assets do not have a fundamental basis. These are digital assets. The same bitcoin is provided by the desire of miners to sell more expensive than the cost of mining. Currently, all these are speculative tools. In general, a trader can earn; a investor still is not clear.

Well if you're talking about altcoins most of them are worth something based on their used for example a token that can be used as a credit to their application or to their project (Utility coin) and some coins to create masternode, etc. every altcoins has its used but if you're referring to ICOs... If there are 1000 ICOs in this industry only 10 and below are worth something according to my own experience as an investor.

Most of them will just going to dump and some of them will become a shitcoins.

We can't describe in numbers but I can say there are very less no of altcoins actually worth off even I would say a coin takes time time to establish in the market. We can not judge the coin like this. Every coin has roadmap even we all knows bitcoin also took time to rise and establish in the market. So some coins takes time to establish in the market according to their roadmap.

I think the top 100 coins in CMC are valuable coins. the coin that the platform operates is a valuable coin, the rest is only shit. and never expect a coin that does not have a trading volume to have value, because it is in vain.

I think only about 10% is an altcoin that has real value from thousands of coins in circulation, and there are even many of them just a scammer who took advantage of this moment.
