Seems like the message for banned account has been changed recently. Did I miss the news somehow, I was not active for some days.
Recently I have seen this from a ban apeal.
Quote
Sorry okeanos, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been permanently banned by a forum moderator, probably due to spam or plagiarism. You may appeal here, but your chances are not good: ban*********@theymos.e4ward.com
Previously, I don't think the word "plagiarism" was included in the message. Also the part, "but your chances are not good."
I have noticed a few less threads on banned account from previous. Is it the reason? Can someone make an analysis how much this kinda thread have been posted in this month and previous?

Edit-
Why an analysis on this should be done?
If this message has lessened the ratio of banned apeal-
1. We can add/change some message on different option like creating new thread, posting plagiarism, etc. which will lead us less spam.

The change was effected a couple weeks back. I do not know if it has had a significant impact on number of appeal threads, I still cime across them. Users who appeal, are probably aware of the top reasons for getting banned, but appeal anyways.

An analysis would put in perspective. Also to note, if anyone would indeed make an analysis, it should also consider the number of account bans since the change was made.

It is implemented just for a while so we can't analysis anything for now but seriously number of appeals from the previous months to now look decreased.
The new ban message was implemented surely after this
Now a days meta section is flooded with the topics related to why the account has been banned?

When someone got banned they will get a message like this on their profile
""Sorry (username), you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been banned by a forum moderator. You may appeal here: banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com""

But instead of just saying banned we can add the reason why they were banned like this below
""Sorry (username), you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum because of plagiarism.(or why he was banned)
You have been banned by a forum moderator. You may appeal here: banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com""

Which can clearly avoid huge spams from META section.

We just got a new ban appeal thread. And the member was quickly exposed as a copy paster, but yet started a thread, and claimed to only write original content.

It was suggested to put a link to the reason for Ban, but that is a lot of work. And I fear we would still have such threads regardless.
Plagiarists do not read the rules, or the numerous appeal threads, so very possibly majority of them would always appeal regardless what is done

Even if this new implementation reduces the 'Why was I banned' threads by 10-20% it is still better thank having 10-20% more of the same posted all over Meta. But with time I think more and more users will figure it out and understand that if they copy/pasted there is no point to appeal the ban.

No way I'm going to spend my x-mas counting threads (I'm leaving this to the AI) but you have to understand there are multiple factors involved if indeed we had a decrease
- after u get banned for the first time you make an appeal, after the second...you think about it and might do it, at the third you realize than rather keeping on appealing is better to actually make some shitty posts as you won't get the account back
- with so many appeals not going anywhere, plagiarist and others are starting to understand that is a waste of time and it comes with a lot of problems (I know one guy that made an appeal with his alt end ended up losing his hero account)

Besides, 99.99% of the buys banned opening a topic know why they were banned, they just hope nobody is able to remember why they were banned or that maybe somehow the proof was lost. Or, and this is might be a new tactic, are here just to see how they were caught to improve their copypaste skills.

Only 1-2% of all banned users open those appeal threads, which is maybe ~100 a month as a rough estimate. It's not that huge of a number to begin with and I don't expect the changed ban notice to affect it much. It's good that it gives a better explanation to the 98% who don't appeal, but those who do would probably do it regardless. Many of them actually quote the notice and claim "dindu" right away.

Well starting an appeal thread should not necessarily be considered as spamming because to the guilt person it's really a serious issue he/she is just following the rules which allows a member to create an account to appeal a case and if guilt should forfeit it.

The addition of the reason as to why a member of the forum was ban is a nice one but if you can check the message it state that "it's probably due to spam t
Or plagiarism" so it really doesn't narrow it down well enough rather. I don't think would will be having less of ban appeal due to that.

C'mon, man, let's wait with analysis - it's Christmas now Cheesy
And I don't that this message will help to reduce number of ban appeal threads. Now majority of appealing users pretend that they don't know why they got banned, despite that they perfect know reason of ban. And number of these threads will remain big, because these users still will beg to unban their account with stupid excuses - "It was my first and only copied message", "I was drunk", "someone hacked my account and posted it" and etc.

Actually this is typical message and it's not going to reduce ban appeal thread really. Actually ban appeal post is worthless they know it, but probably they want to know reason why they were banned. It's most likely self satisfaction, to know exact reason. I think theymos should create child board for Ban and hacked account recovery. So that meta will be little bit spam free.

You are right!
Only 1-2% of all banned users open those appeal threads, which is maybe ~100 a month as a rough estimate. It's not that huge of a number to begin with and I don't expect the changed ban notice to affect it much.

Anyway, the new template of message help reducing non-sense curious threads on why they got permanent bans. Some of them will create threads as their hopelessly effort to ask for unbanning their accounts; but I don't think there are odds for them to get their accounts back.

In brief, I support the new message template.
