If you mean whether or not ripple would take over the number one cryptocurrency spot from bitcoin, that is very unlikely to happen.

I expect market to continue a steady upward rise in the early parts of next year. And attract new investors so as to support major growth.

We can't compare Bitcoin and Ripple. Because those coins are running with different algorithms. Bitcoin is decentralized and Ripple is centralized. Then we can't equal Ripple to Bitcoin. Ripple is the good coin for 2019. But I don't think Ripple can reach the Bitcoin market cap. I personally believe Bitcoin will top on the coinmarketcap.

It seems like some people that are feeling like they "missed out" on Bitcoin in the past, are now trying to compensate this by finding "the new Bitcoin". Sometimes even falling back on centralized solutions such as Ripple, while completely forgetting the principles of permissionlessness and trustlessness that made cryptocurrencies big to begin with.

Don't fall for the cargo cult that is "blockchain the technology" or "distributed ledger technology". Try to see what value propositions lie at the core of cryptocurrencies and which cryptocurrencies represent these values. Without understanding these principles, you're more likely to get burned than not. Be careful in your assumption of what's "the next big thing". It might very well be that Bitcoin is the new Bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency for 2019 is good but this post OP should not be here because it talks about speculations of crypto market price in the near future. I bet you have made a mistake posting this kind of post in this section. Anyway, I have my answer already that cryptocurrency would be good because if not then cryptocurrency will be gone to ending already.

Bitcoin is unique, and it has taken 10 years for it to get to its current position. Nothing will be able to replace it unless, the deep state manages to acquire all of the coins. Even then, I suspect they will use it to trade amongst themselves, and this will benefit the minnows who have managed to keep some of their coins. Of course there will be/are alternatives. But these will only be successful if they have efficient and useful functions.

The interesting investments won't be Bitcoin - that is a no-brainer wealth preservation option, but in choosing the coins that will be adopted for these specific uses. One interesting area is payment services for the un-banked.

I hope you're not asking seriously about Ripple. Ripple is centralized coin of bankers and it's against all main principles of crypto, how it can be called new Bitcoin? And I don't know why people always trying to find new Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the thes first cryptocurrency, flagship of crypto with biggest adoption and popularity. I can't imagine any of current cryptocurrencies surpassing it. Maybe in future new more modern cryptocurrencies with big technical advantage against Bitcoin will surpass it, but it wont be Ripple.

I think this depends on if the market cap continues to decline. I would say a lot of projects and weak hands have been shaken out however, there is still a lot of shitcoins still going and people will still try pumping them for quick profits. If there is further decline, for example Bitcoin going to $1500, I would see this a s being a 'purge' and would leave mostly only strong, valuable projects within the crypto space

It is likely that the most dominant crypto will have some form of government control. It may not exist and it has not been publicly released.

Ripple will not be a new bitcoin. It is different from other crypto. It is a centralized coin. I am not saying that all the centralized products are not good, but crypto itself is contrary to centralized.
If Ripple will rise when the Bulls come again, there is no doubt about this, but the fundamental reason for Ripple's rise is due to the prosperity of the entire crypto market, to be exact, it is thanks to the development of Bitcoin, not Ripple itself.

The Bitcoin price will recover quickly, if the SEC approve the Bakkt ETF and if it is denied, then the price will drop a little bit more. There are a lot of people building their hope on the approval of the ETF and the possibility that the institutional capital will boost the Bitcoin price.

The question is, do we want institutional investment to take control over the future of Bitcoin? I think natural adoption and growth is much better than institutional capital being used to wreck this experiment.

I don’t think Ripple will become new bitcoin. Two of them are so different, one is centralized cryptocurrency , and another one is decentralized cryptocurrency , there are not much similarity. I think bitcoin has still long way to go, it is still in progress and it will stay the number one in 2019.
