Just learn it from the legit source. Personally I prefer local project because I can follow their workshop so we can focus on their roadmap.
Altcoin are totally unpredictable or I can say that the risk is higher than you just invest on bitcoin.
Just think twice before you start to invest on altcoin ( personally just focus on 50 top altcoin in coincapmarket )

Before asking this question here, you should do some homework and decide and then you can ask the community to help you to choose the best. Anyway, I wanna suggest what I have done earlier. I have invested hugely when it was $0.30 thinking that it will be no more dip. Later, I found it crashed to $0.10 and I have bought 2x this time. Now, it's having some gain. It's being traded at $0.20 now. The ATH is $19. I think in the bullrun, 10x or even 100x is possible.

Don't advice financial, but for me, I will buy Bitcoin only in bear market now (let's do your own search to find the good point to buy). Let's see the market, almost altcoins dump or pump following bitcoin, so it is my choosing.

If I had 5000 dollar, I don't invest to anything and I just wait if btc can't pass to 4500, otherwise I wait new dumps and when it drops to 2500 dollar, I buy 2 tc with money and don't buy or sell it again, I just wait for new ath which will come in 1-2 year.

I think this question is really stupid. Just open coinmarketcap and check to 20 projects and invest in such which you really like. Maybe you will choose Ethereum or Stellar, these projects are strong and have ambitions.

Personally the coin I'll be thinking about much next year will be Ethereum. Ripple haf its year throughout this year and it's still at where it is. Ethereum is seeking to retake its second position and with their updates coming this January, I think we should prepare for something big. |

A lot of people here suggest invest it, but only in the case if you are ready to lose your money because you should acknowledge that this is a very risky realm. Moreover, if you are interested in trading, 5k$ will be a good start for earning new experience and maybe money in the near future  . We can give any coins we want but we won't guarantee that it is a good investment but what i can give to you is an advice. I suggest that you should look for a coin that is worth investing for, study their uses and think if ts worth investing for also look for its volume.
There's a lot of articles in the internet just do a simple search about investing in cryptos and you'll learn a lot. A $5000 is a big ampunt of money so do a research on your own and don't just follow what other people are saying.

Knowledge means experience about altcoin. You should not invest in altcoin before knowing about coin future. And most important is you have to patience in this sector. Without patience you will be disappointed. |

It depends on how much you want to earn. There are more or less risky investments. If you want to invest for long-term, it will be better to buy top altcoins from coinmarketcap. But if you want to earn of fast trades, you can invest in small projects which have already realised thier products.
