What is going on with bitcoin ? there are many fluctuations in short span of time within a limit of $500? but bitcoin is unable to reach a new landmark and trailing around $4000. what's the reason for these temporary price fluctuations?

First of all: although it's full of unrelated posts and sometimes funny, sometimes not, there's already a (huge) thread about Bitcoin price movements. I've asked there and I've got an answer. Not a perfect one, however, maybe it helps you more, maybe together with these graphs. |

it was also stable for a while at 6500 The Bitcoin was going on with lots of stability since a few months so we can made an investment and in future we can earn some profit it will be the right decision to make at this situation and it will also be profitable in the future. i dont think so it will go down soon to a new low support level, if someone gets the guts and creates a new cryptocurrency indexation system and market, despising the corrupt current one it will break the neck and cornerstone of bitcoin and this community |

Talking about fluctuations, last time I check the price is above $4K now. And as far as I can remember, we have seen fluctuations above $1K in 2017 (correct me if I'm wrong). Also I have a theory that somewhat the Ethereum fork is pulling the price of bitcoin to increase or shall I say be volatile in the next coming days. |

Talking about fluctuations, last time I check the price is above $4K now. And as far as I can remember, we have seen fluctuations above $1K in 2017 (correct me if I'm wrong).
That's dependent on the space of time you are considering, the price was very volatile in 2017, rising quickly in the last quarter of the year and reaching a new all time high. 2018 was a relatively stable year, for a normally volatile market. OP, the cryptocurrency market is defined by demand and supply and is likely to fluctuate in value. |

Bitcoin slowly but surely begins to grow. I think that by February the biktoin will reach the price of 6, 000 dollars, and by the summer will return to the price of 20, 000 dollars.
We are waiting for an exciting bull year.

There is little short term volatility at the moment when compared to the past. The price is very static and that's because it's in a sweet-spot where few people are willing to sell but few people are willing to buy. Or alternatively supply and demand are in near perfect equilibrium with little shocks on either side.

These kind of fluctuations are normal, I don't think it's something to be worried about after the price took a dive during November. The short term traders are the one behind these fluctuations maybe some of them are shorting Bitcoin taking advantage of the situation whenever the price slowly recovers a sudden dip happens right after. The Bitcoin was going on with lots of stability since a few months so we can made an investment and in future we can earn some profit it will be the right decision to make at this situation and it will also be profitable in the future.
The price wasn't stable in the last few months it did stay well above $6k in the 3Q of 2018 but after that everything went down. i dont think so it will go down soon to a new low support level
Or it could go up. |

I think these fluctuations are what makes bitcoin investment interesting and apparently profitable. Although might not be so favorable for long term investors, I think its good for day traders because they can make significant profits from their investment within a short period of time.

That's bitcoin for you. We're experiencing these kind of fluctuations every so often, and we've reached $4200 on Christmas time even, so by now it should be normal for everyone else to see these kind of rises. There really is no reason for every price rises as everyone would like to point out on every individual post pertaining to prices. Also a lot of things are still happening around, including the fed shutdown, bakkt cancellation, and the likes, so it's hard to pinpoint what's causing the current rise.

It is called supply squeezes Get used to them, they are kinda expected. When the price goes down so much, people who wanted to sell have already sold, the rest are just holding. This leads to a diminishing supply at lower prices. But a diminishing supply in an overall downtrend market, i.e. where demand is falling as well, means the markets become thin while the orderbooks shallow. As a result, volatility gets out of control bringing about these fluctuations which we have a chance to witness with our own eyes Ironically, the price cannot fall substantially lower as there is not enough supply, but it also can't break out because demand is weak too. Such dynamic can go on for long until there's some breaking news which either reinstalls optimism or wreaks havoc in the market. You choose which side of the trade you are on |

bitcoin has always been volatile so your surprise is not justified.
and the range that it currently fluctuating in is not really that big a deal for us to talk about it. recently we had a tiny rise to above $4k which may be the sign of end of the holidays when the traders are coming back slowly and continuing their accumulation while whales are still trying to keep the price down.
it is too soon to be surprised anyways, you should be surprised when the FOMO buy starts at a higher price after the rear rise happens. basically when people come back when it is too late to come back and they have missed all the opportunities to buy bitcoin cheap.
