BCH community is manipulated with fake posts, believing its real bitcoin. Can you all please take time to knock some sense to this dude ? if BCH has its promoters, let us be BTC promoters.

If you are buying BTC in 2019 because you think it is Bitcoin, you are being fooled. You actually are looking for BCH, the peer to peer electronic cash system for online payments. http://buy.bitcoin.com

What do you expect from Roger Ver except promoting his immature work Bitcoin Cash?! The only fooled are his followers.

But even Ver doesn't want to miss the commission money and you could buy both BCH and BTC at his site.

Comparing BCH to BTC is like comparing a real $30k rolex to a fake plastic rolex that cost you $10. To the uneducated they may look the same or even the plastic one slightly better, but to those who know their stuff, they can see one is just a cheap rip off and the other is the real deal.

I mean, if you're buying BTC, you are buying Bitcoin. The ticker is still the same. You shouldn't be surprised, considering Roger Ver actually owns Bitcoin.com.

Actually, we can't do anything about it since Bitcoin are created open source under MIT license But we can educate people to choose the real Bitcoin Core. @clrpod analogy could be countered by plagiarism could be punished under the law, but Bitcoin isn't. The only thing we need is to make a newcomer able to testify themselves about the current situation about cryptocurrencies spaces and tell them hows it's started, and who is covering the lie which is the Roger Ver Team.

Roger Ver knows he's promoting the fake bitcoin because he's only doing it for his financial benefit in the future.
It's funny that only the people who were in bitcoin for at least 2 years know Roger Ver, the newcomers probably think of him as crazy.

This troll post should be moved into the Altcoin Discussion area where it belongs...
And besides, that altcoin has been a failure, forked already, becoming even more failure. Hopefully Bitmain should go back to doing asics now that they moved Jihan Wu away, precisely for making the company lose money over things like making an altcoin instead of sticking to (their) core business...

Of course, it is. BCH is one of the hyper in 2017 and that people are easily deceived because developers are not anonymous and that it is managed by a rich investor. It might have a Bitcoin in its name, but is still fake and is not different from all those altcoins.

Agreed, not much you can do except for trying to educate people and push them in the right direction. No legal recourse can be taken unlike in my scenario (though I don't think many people do get punished for selling fake rolex watches, although it's not something I know too much about!).

Education is the way. A fork is an altcoin, they can try to steal the bitcoin name but they can't because they came later, MUCH later.

You can order clones of almost anything from China, with varying qualities. For a small fee, they can stamp anything as the "brand". If you attempt to resell that in another country where counterfeiting is forbidden, you might get in trouble; for selling in those countries the clients usually just stamp another brand.

This is not related to free open source software of course. Forks are welcome and part of the ecosystem, but its up to you to make your fork "better", and for the people to welcome it. Sometimes forks add ideas that get implemented in the main tree, sometimes they dissolve as nobody wants them. Its part of the freedom of free software.

If you copy Linux, change its name and say its yours, the community will immediately denounce you for plagiarism. The correct etiquette when forking a project, is to give credit where credit is due. Some licenses make this obligatory, and some even require you to publish back your source code.

Calling the forks "Bitcoin" is a blatant lie. They have officially different names, although they use "Bitcoin" as part of their name, they are not.

Nothing new, they have been pushing it hard and time will tell once people have realized that they are being directed to the wrong coin.

What we can do as community is to educate someone who is new to cryptos by informing them that BCH is a fork, an altcoin and bitcoin is bitcoin.

it is nothing new that Roger Ver advertises his own coin as bitcoin. in fact it is not new in general that an altcoin advertises itself as bitcoin or bitcoin competition. in the past decade of bitcoin existence there has been a lot of altcoins that made such claims. they usually fool a bunch of people too. in the end they will all die because of what they did instead of focusing on creating a decent project!

This is actually the only reason why Bitcoin Cash still exist today. Roger Ver and his minions planned it this way for a reason, because they knew that BCash could not survive without the help of the real Bitcoin, namely BTC. You are very desperate, if you have to resort to dirty tactics like this and it is actually pathetic that they have to leech onto Bitcoin BTC to survive.

BTC supporters should just stand together and just dump their FREE BCash coins in a synchronized manner to kill BCash once and for all.  Wink

unfortunately it is very hard to fight with someone who owns a domain name called "bitcoin.com" because newbies don't usually research, they only search on the internet and when they see the domain name they think it is trusted. and they are using that to their own advantage and fooling newbies into believing what they are selling them is "bitcoin" whereas they receive an altcoin. we have had a lot of complains in the past year from newbies who were confused why they haven't received "bitcoin" in their wallet while the place they bought it at (bitcoin.com) was showing them they sent the  coins already!

without going into the social drama of altcoins

essentially you just imagine it like dollars
BTC is the US dollar and BCH is canadian dollar and SV is australian

yep BTC(US) is the popular one and yes when someone shouts out they want "dollar" its best to ask do you want U.S, canadian or austrailan as they are different

but as soon as you start saying any crypto is just 'plastic' your just then opening a can of worms to try explaining why btc is not plastic by same definition. so easier to say its just another less popular currency much like canada and australia

many people when denouncing crap coins as scams then fall flat on their face when they then have to try describing why if 2000 coins are scams then default the one coin that uses same tech must also be.. which then takes too much effort to explain the differences. so just keep it simple

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Correct. Just we have one big problem. I didn't ever see the CAD or AUD get promoted as "the true dollar". Instead, the altcoins in discussion tell everybody "uninformed" enough that they are the true Bitcoin.
And the fact that Ver owns bitcoin.com and many go there thinking they reached the official Bitcoin website makes the things worse.

To my own understanding, bitcoin still remains bitcoin and nothing will change that, but make sure that you will have a lot of Patience because, bitcoin is passing through though time, there may be a little changes but that doesn't mean, it still remains bitcoin.
