1. Venture Capital investment (which requires full KYC and is not really open to mere mortals like us)
2. Fully trustless (i.e. 100% code-based) public blockchain solutions.

Even then 2 can be dubious unless you are really knowledgeable about the blockchain in question.

This is just wrong. No one is saying there is no risk. The investment means that the investor funds the bankroll for gamblers to play against. Legitimate sites include crypto-games, just-dice, yolo-dice, betking and a few others. There are many illegitimate sites that will disappear and take the money - obviously very high risk.

Returns are 1% of total BETS (not investment), but will vary in the short term. Many sites have 'leveragability' where your bankroll invests a multiple of the actual money put in. In practice, most investors put in max leverage, so the system in actual practice allows the investor to de-risk against a major drawdown.
Investing in gambling is a solid investment, especially if the platform has set intelligent bet limits (generally .5% of the total bankroll against a 1% house favor). With this scenario, long-term, steady increase of investment approaches certainty.

It is NOT money for free, considering the investor must post funds that are at risk to various factors and also pays the opportunity cost of being unable to invest elsewhere.

In general, your opinions will receive greater respect if you provide solid evidence, research and logic. I'd recommend that in the future.

I once invested my money in one of the online gambling sportsbooks but those in my country (not on online gambling sites that use cryptocurrency) and the results were indeed satisfying.

They offered around 100% profit in the short term, indeed, the first time I had a little bit of it was an impossible thing but one of my friends had experienced it and the results happened. At that time I only need about 3 months to get me 100% profit.

150% in two years is a fantastic result! I was happy when I got 12%+ on my investment in 13 months
I was invested in bitcoin and withdrew without any problem as well
mind you, investing is a risk, if you happen upon a very lucky whale, you could get negative profit

Look like OP looking for ponzi scheme  . I am not expert about gambling but I don't think you will find investment plan on gambling website. Investment plan really is a ponzi scheme, and gambling is different things. I will suggest you don't put your money this kind of investment plan. We have seen most of ponzi scheme turn out eventually. You can play game if you have knowledge and experience but don't find just easy way to earn money.
I am not sure but perhaps you will find investment plan gambling site. Just search on Google.

It glaring that you are indeed not an expert about gambling because the OP is definitely not looking for ponzi scheme because there a lot of gambling site which offered the exact investment which the OP is looking but I don't how they operate or pay their investors. Exactly, also there hasn't been a crypto hype for over a year while all the coins value has been dropping, even if you made bitcoin profit in the past year the more likely scenario is that you lose value in dollar. Investing into crypto casinos is not to make money in dollars or not even make money in profit like trading but more like being a small time partner on a casino considering the house always wins.

Anyone who wants to invest into a casino thinks they will make profit since casinos always make profit and that has been around waaaay before the 2017 increase, people were capable of investing into casino bankroll as old as 2014 if I remember correctly, maybe even older that I do not know about. What about those long-running sites like Crypto-Games? It's a win-win situation that a casino has more BTC to deal with, as well as reward investors with a cut from their house edge.

Im glad I have seen this thread, I saw that yolodice offers return of investment which seems to be very legit because this site runs for a very long time and low risk of getting scammed with this reputable gambling site. The gambling sites that offer investments that I know is Bustadince and I have done that with them.  I think it seem to be more safer to invest in gambling sites than icos as many funds as been lose through icos investments.

i do believe that investing on gambling site such bustadice is most reliable/safe and more profitable in my opinion than investing in some ico's . Because the future of some projects nowadays is to hard to determine because of the situation of the market and mostly are scam and so difficult to recognize. , so much better to choose the most reliable and wherein for sure there's a big profits.

Every place of investment must have a risk, someone will not be able to avoid it even though the place is the most trusted place, there must be a risk even though the form is not a scam. At least, when choosing a gambling place that has been widely trusted by various people such as yolodice or bustadice, one does not need to have excessive concerns to react to it. Even you only need time to make your money increase and take it slowly, online gambling that uses cryptocurrency is a lot and can even grow again in the next few years, I think this is a potential.
