What a great finish to the match between New Zealand and India, for a moment there I really thought India would win even though they needed around 30 runs off just 2 overs. India almost pulled off the victory but just fell short by 4 runs. Karthik and Pandya batted well at the end but it just wasn't enough to get the win. Congrats to New Zealand on winning the match and series, India were so close to clean sweeping both series in New Zealand and Australia all in just 4 months. Its been a very successful 4 months for India.

Check out my pre match prediction in the other cricket thread, i expected New Zealand to score above 200 runs and India chasing and losing the match, but i never expected the match to be this close, both teams played really well and India is not fielding their best team for this short version of the game, if it was a full strength team, they would win the T20 cup too.

Even this match looks to be on the hands of West Indies as the first innings target of England seems to be 277. In test cricket scenario changes in any time, and it is a hard time for England to prove themselves and get rid of the complete whitewash from the series.

I do not know what was in Dinesh Karthik's mind. The other batsman was betting very well even hitting better than him but he (Karthik) denied that run. If he would taken the run then they would need 14 runs in 3 balls. But in the next ball he eventually took the single. I did not understand the strategy at all.

I guess he thought that match is gone. 13 from 2 balls was not possible but Southee bowled a wide ball which could give India the win if the next ball would hit the maximum. A team should not give up before they lose.

He played 21 twenty-twenty games in the last 3 years. let's dig his average and strike rate.


 

You can see how good he is and useful asset for Team India in the lower middle order in recent years and don't forget he's not a regular member in Indian Squad despite proving his worth again and again.

He could easily save himself from any criticism by taking a single during the tough time, but he chooses to take responsibility and tried to finish the game for his team just like Nidahas trophy final.

Imagine another scenario Where he takes a single and gives strikes to Krunal, who doesn't have much experience, Krunal is a good hitter there is no doubt about that. But no one can be 100% sure that he could win the match for India in this situation, everyone is just assuming that What if and if by any chance Krunal messed it up there then same critics would go gaga and say Kartik did blunder by giving strikes to inexperience Krunal.

Unfortunately, Dinesh Kartik failed this time, call it a failure or lousy judgment, but he's a match-winner in the shorter format.

You do not want to push yourserlf to be a hero. Heroic act comes from natural instincts. DK took too much risk and he is living with the consequence even his calculation did not make sense. How did he think that not taking that single will win the match?

The other batsman made it to the Indian team by leaving everyone else behind then why so doubt about him? DK deserves the criticism.

It's bad that people are criticizing on Kartik. In deed Kartik is a good player for all format. The only problem is that he can't play in International matches at a row. He is playing for a long time but back in the day, I have seen him rarely to play couple of matches at a row. It's because Dhoni was there.
He had always made some good runs in IPL too.

I do not think anyone is denying the fact that DK is a good player. He indeed is a good player but he should not be overconfident and try to push himself to be a hero. May be he did not try at all to be the hero. May be he was just confident that he can hit the remaining balls for 6 each but his calculation was wrong. You can not deny this fact.

Not taking run from that ball took all hope away that left for that match. Besides he needed to trust his partner too who was playing well.

There is a tournament going on right now that I've never heard of before, The Oman Quadrangular Series which is a T20 series between a number of lower ranked cricket nations. The first T20 match was won by the Netherlands against Scotland with 1 ball to spare. And in the second T20 match Ireland defeated Oman by 15 runs. I really like this mini tournaments for lower ranked unknown cricketing countries as its good to see more countries play cricket on the world stage.

Anyone is watching BBL between Sydney Sixers vs Melbourne Renegades?

In response to 180 of Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Renegades has already scored 97 for 2 wickets after 10.4 over. I am not watching the match but seeing the live score and it seems Melbourne are doing very good in the chase.
