It was a competitive match till the final over and Washington Sundar sealed the victory in the second last ball with a six. Before the match i thought it would be another win for Punjab but their top order failed to score runs which made the difference in this match.

I thought GT would be chasing the target soon(under 15 overs) but nah, they just don't have marbles but at hey least they won. I find it hard to believe that GT has same points as RCB and PBKS who are dominating (sure, they beat 'em but still they play dominating game).

They took the game too deep, but it shows that GT is too dependent on the top 3 players and even if two of them fail, they will be having hard time even chasing a par score but somehow they have this same formula since last year and in each game, at least one from the top 3 plays the long innings.

Top 3 is alright but they still need to get their shit together, need to play proper batters in middle order instead of plenty bowlers and all rounders.

Last one was wonderful to see. When Peshawar Zalmi was chasing small total 129 and lose 4 wickets quickly, it is very easy to panic. That would have made most of  teams lose the position but how Aaron Hardie and Abdul Samad remained calm was key to the win. It demonstrates that finals are won by those players who are able to deal with pressure.

Aaron Hardie was most certainly the hero of the match. He is definitely all-big match player. Credit as well to the bowlers to ensure that Kingsmen went only 129 at Gaddafi stadium. After such hard battle, Peshawar Zalmi deserved such nice trophy.

There have been three matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand, all three of which are T20 matches, in which the first match was won by Bangladesh and the result of the second match could not be known due to rain and now this third match is being played between them. This match was also delayed due to rain, due to which 20 overs were reduced to 15 overs, in which the Bangladesh team could not perform well and set a target of only 102 runs, in which all their player were out in 14 over and the performance of all the players was not that special. Rain destroys the interest and strength in every match, due to which it becomes difficult to make a decision and the team effort is also impaired, as was done in 15 overs in this match. Although some of statistics such as economy rate of Aaron Hardie were impressive but best part of it was strategy depth that Peshawar Zalmi showed in tournament.  Willingness to place hope on young Bangladeshi pacer when playing in high pressure scenarios with PSL was giving them opportunity to possess X-factor that could not be easily scouted by its opponents. As Hardie offered the consistency, Rana offered sheer speed that frequently destroyed important alliances. This equilibrium between international experience and bare region talent added performance ceiling to which no other team would achieve this season. They did not beat, but they overwhelmed transition between middle and death overs.

In the Indian Premier League, these batting-friendly pitches have spoiled batsmen. Even young players show unnecessary aggression against senior bowlers. Such pitches give dangerous confidence to batsmen. I call it dangerous because when these players play on bowling-friendly or even neutral pitches, they become sloggers. I thought there is no point in watching the game, so I didn't but now I checked, Hardik is not playing which means we got any news about the new leadership or just the injury?

If the final between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi had been held, we probably wouldn't have seen such a boring final. We usually expect a final match to be an intense and exciting match. But due to the poor batting of Hyderabad's batsmen, Peshawar Zalmi got a very easy win. Aaron Hardie took four wickets for just 27 runs.

Zalmi batted for a target of only 130 runs. Even then, they were under a lot of pressure. The top order failed to play well. Aaron Hardie batted well along with decent bowling. He remained unbeaten on 56 runs from 39 balls. Besides, Abdul Samad played a much-needed innings of 44 runs.

Former Australian allrounder James Hopes has been appointed as the new head coach of Sydney Sixers on a two-year contract, the club confirmed on Monday (May 4). This will be the 47-year-old's first head coach role.
