What makes a coin dead? I would say when it has no active nodes, no trading volume and no development, in that order. Anyone have a different definition? My second question, why does CMC still list these coins!?!?!?

Pause of development, team going offline and not updating the ANN as recently RestoToken did, close to zero interest and daily trading volume and many more. Up to nearly a year ago CMC listed every coin wihj 10,000 USD daily volume and it was a kiddy game for every dev to do it for few days until get listed. Not the limit is 100,000 USD daily volume.

Dead coins usually do not have large volumes in exchange, or low trading activities. A large exchange will make a decision that is a delist from their trading list. coinmarketcap will not display dead coins. that in my opinion.

Most of them maybe devs didnt liquidate some funds to run the project with actual cash before the market crash down and now they are stuck with low budgets mostly lower than 200k and no trade at all because community is seeing no result Is already listed on CMC and is legit the problem is devs and community are just down on it The only hope is for better marketing to get trading back up

Dead coins are usually near the bottom rankings of CMC. That is why it is very risky to invest in coins with very low market caps and volumes.

CMC is listing coins THAT passed and submit their required standards. For such inactivities of projects, I think it takes months before they delist it or maybe an appeal. I think coins could be considered dead if the team has no funds to develop or they abandon(No activity for a month atleast)

when the Coin is dead, the transaction volume does not exist. the demand for coins has been very little and even none at all. seeing this, I want to say that the coin does not get support from the developer. because if the developer supports it, the coin will survive. coin that has a quality developer team then the Coin will last.

The first reason is developers. But developers also have their own reasons. They maybe lack funds or coin has failed and doesn't have large volumes on the exchanges, no demand for coin.

There are many causes for a coin to die, from lack of funds for development, disputes between developers, local government regulations, community responses or market interests and other things.

I absolutly sure that 95% coins in market are dead. The best way to be rich with cryptocurrency is watching for perspective and high level coins.

When the developers disappear and the source code is closed, that is the start of a dead coin. However, it is up to the community to keep it alive. If all the buyers step away and the exchanges stop trading it, then you can consider it dead

There are several reasons projects becoming dead despite having good tech & consonantly updated their codes on GitHub etc but still they fail because they doesn't give importance to bring users on their platform. With working product it is also important to have the users which makes whole ecosystem of the project better. We are still in bear market & bear market have crossed its second year, most coin/tokens have lost over about 80% of their values as compared to their ATH values ( https://athcoinindex.com/). There are some tokens which are performing well despite the downturn because they are working on adoption of their project take example of TRON with great strategy to buy BitTorrent & launching ICO which will ultimately bring 100million users on TRON blockchain. In a nutshell bear markets are famous to bring separate the man from the boys , the weak from the strong & for bringing the cream all over the top. My second question, why does CMC still list these coins!?!?!?
Coinmarketcap does not charge any listing fees for projects to list on their index so there is no point of questioning them.

It seems to me that if a coin has no idea, then it can automatically be considered dead. even if the project team is not professional

If the coin is delisted from the last exchange, it is not dead yet, but unfortunately shortly probably it will be. The definitive death of a coin is the stop of its development, so abandon it by the developers.

I usually don’t look for the coins below top 100 and that is enough reason for me not to invest on small coins. CMC should make a standards on listing so the investors will have a better choices. Dead coins is just like a scam coins because of no development with in the project.

The exchanges themselves analyze the dead coins and remove them from their list. Yes, they have neither bidding nor demand, and by the way there are much more than active and profitable ones. This is the main reason for the market.

The coin can be considered as a dead coin when it has no mode development, this project can be defined as a dead project. There was a lot of dead coins still have a few bucks of daily volume trade. Nodes can't be considered as the main factor to define that.

I think a certain coin is considered as dead when there are no buy orders in an exchange. It happens when the developers and the team don't do something to make some changes and developments. I am currently holding dead coins but I still look at the positive possibilities.

here is a site for you https://deadcoins.com/dont know, hard to say what makes a coin dead... yeah, most coins are down.. ( price ) so they seem to be dead... no volume, liquidity.. but development still ongoing.. you need to watch, but the fact is.. it will be a hard and long way for 90% of the coins to come back

Well, it is difficult to apply all possible definitions of dead for all projects. But some characteristics such as volume, media and people's interest for some purpose on this project! I think that CMC is not being honest in recent times and are giving away important coins to make people forget. However, the truth always prevails and will soon prevail. Many projects have false volumes and are already dead!
