Probably you are correct when saying that time zone disparity is one of the largest factors that lead to low participation. Promotion is another factor and memehunter has done a great job of keeping interest alive, but not all people are following the thread. How do we know whether the prizes are all claimed or not? What I can see is that someone who hit the target need to post in chat, while the post for the challenge on telegram is rarely updated (at least if there is a winner). I think it will be better if players who hit the challenge should make a comment in the post on telegram than post the proof in chat.

If we think that only the (big) prize makes a gambler encouraged to participate in the contest. Then we could say that they are not just here to make fun but rather solely for money. On the other hand, unclaimed prizes, cumulative prize pool attract new players, but scare away previous participants. I think its a psychological thing for some people that if they can not do something, they think it is impossible to do. Those who havent won might think that it is impossible to win and quit.
