I agree that we already got too much trash coin, most of the time the ICO created to scam people, and because crypto is decentralised world, everyone is welcome to create coin, its one of the centralised disadvantages, bittorent ICO maybe could be a good project, alot of people mention the positive things about that ICO, but like OP said sometimes the good ICO also could be failed, its because people are looking for profit not the technology and the features of the coin

You should instead be asking people to stop investing in scams and possibly  guide them to identify scams. Asking people to stop investing atall is dictatorial and very dangerous... Reforms can be made and consensus reached within the community.

I see no reason why it should be banned or discouraged. If they want it be taxed why not? But that is a different matter entirely.

Its a shame what ICOs have become, back in 2016 it was so better than now,excluding the bloodbath condition we've been in for a while investors money are not safe anymore ,the whole ICO thing looks more like a joke now and yet greedy people are investing blindly in all this good for nothing projects ,I can't wait to say goodbye to ICOs for good ,STO on my mind now

There's way to many ICO's that are literally trash. Idk how people invest in some of these projects. It's honestly a joke... The Bittorrent ICO would have been a good one to invest in just because of the hype behind it. If the token goes to $0 in a few months it would still be worth it because people are tripling their investment within a few days (probably not worth buying right now, but do your own research). Those type of ICO's are 1 in 1,000,000. The majority of the ICO's people are investing in are pure garbage. They have no utilitarian uses and they have weak fan-bases. I can't comprehend why people don't wait until POST ICO release, THEN analyze the platform and decide whether or not to invest. Doesn't this sound like the best logical solution? Sometimes even quality ICO's dump and you can pick some up for pennies on the dollar "fire sale".

I understand what your feeling is about now that we can see that the market is crashing and everything are not falling into places. Always remember that there are always good and bad side of things and dont always look on the bad side. ICO is still a good investment if you choose your ICO wisely. Finding a good ico is challenging enough that many people that have been investing in the market for months have yet to do that, in fact I will be surprised if there were 2 or 3 worthwhile projects releasing their icos at the same time, also while diversification is a good idea that is only true if through it you reduce your risk but by choosing so many icos you are only increasing it.

I don't know if the sales id really true I just got into a finish campaign that reached a $2 million soft cap, but after it hit three exchange there are no volumes or buy order on those three exchanges, could be because those exchanges are not popular but 2 million dollars get easily get you into big exchange.

ICO market fully follow the crypto market. Just think before one years, a lot of ICO project got success for the best crypto market. But now-a-days crypto market is really very bad, for this reason a maximum number of ICO getting fail. Investors taking it risky. More and more people are getting annoyed with the icos especially due to slow and low last year, most of ico investors from last year are in massive loss and now people want to get rid of all these ico based projects and looking for better alternative and this space may well be filled by security tokens offerings or stos, where the investor becomes a shareholder, part owner and is able to receive profits generating by the project, i think sto model is both more suitable and attractive for investors and next trend seems to be the sto.

I agree, I think an STO model is better suited for retail investors in this space. You're investing into something that isn't just an "idea".

While it might be, there are no instant gains on those, or if there is, there will be significant dumps as well. Real world moves slower and crypto people tends to speculate the marketcap that is 20 years ahead. So naturally they will dump when the price don't hold.

People who invested to those trash ICO's is the ones that who never think first before they invest, they just follow the flow of others thoughts and didn't understand at all what it's all about and obviously they are expecting a high return in a short period of time.

I do not understand why someone who wants to develop a project can not publicly announce it and look for people who will help him. After all, ICO is just an announcement of ideas and a collection of money for its realization.
Bad ideas will not attract investors and in natural way will die. That's all. If someone wants to try, he should have a chance, and no one should limit him in any way.

Seriously, it's getting frustrating now. Lots of projects springing up daily with no real intent or solution for anything. Most of them are only interested in enriching themselves at the detriment of the investors. It is sad to see people falling prey to most of these shams. The worst part is, they keep doing this unchecked and people keep loosing money.
