Web wallet is very risky to use especially when you PC has been compromised, you need to guide against malware and viruses and don't visit phishing site because once your coins are stolen, you cannot get them back.
In any case, the user's fault is very obvious if he has lost his coins from the My ether Wallet wallet. The fact is that this wallet is the most popular and highest quality possible. Only correct and careful use will give you guarantees of the safety of your funds. First of all, you cannot use a computer and another device to manipulate the wallet, and also use it to use the Internet In general. It is best to have one device specifically for wallets. It sounds like nobody uses hardware wallets. What's the point to have some special device to use wallets if you can easily use any popular hardware wallet and be safe? I don't say it's bad, but hardware wallets solve 100% of storing problems if we talk about supported crypto projects.

Now, this gets me really scared about the safety of crypto coins. I always see in MEW website that Metamask is the secure and recommended way to log in. Now, what other safe options are available to those who cannot afford a hard wallet.

It is very sad to see such reports in 2019. I thought that most of these hacks in the past, but as can be seen in the beginning of 2019 has already cracked more than one wallet.

My idea was that your pc was compromised by a malware attack, giving the hacker the information he needed to get through on your wallet. Next time make sure to add more powerful antivirus to block the potential malware attacks.

I feel sorry for your loss mate.I experienced also this before and lost almost $500 dollars worth of eth including tokens. You cannot recover it anymore so the best thing to do is install Malwarebytes and adware just like what I did. It’s a best antivirus for any spyware and exploit.

This is actually very terrible when using metamask can only be crushed. I am sorry for what happened to you. In the future you have to be safer if you use a PC. And also do not ever use phishing links to avoid things like this.

Do you have any ideas how did it happen? metamask is a good application and I am not sure that it can be hacked. Probably you lost your private key or there is a hack in your system. Don't you think?

Yes, the hacker has transferred your tokens to his wallet, but re - tokens again are impossible , now all you have to protect your computer from viruses, create a new version of windows and install a powerful virus and do not download from suspicious sites, and do not put your private key In the untrusted sites, not your metamask wallet is the reason, but the hacker hacked your device and then succeeded in taking your private key and made that theft, my advice is for you not to look back and do not despair, create a new wallet and start working again, do not stop, good luck for you and everyone.

I don't think metamask has been hacked, there are currently many people using the metamask to store the token, if it is hacked it means there will be many other accounts hacked?

Well, that proves that blockchain security is not good enough to withstand hackers and by passers I guess it is also depends on your personal responsibility to keep your account on track.

I think if stolen your balance should be zero, there's no stuck in wallet. Error system, not correct data when do activity and network become the reason from your problems. Re stat your device, back up your data and try again. If stolen just let it go, accept it as valuable experience.

Some of my tokens are still very safe. You must be careful because things like this certainly make us disappointed. You don't trust other people you don't know. Save password keys in data that is not online. Often people lose tokens because they store password keys in data that are online. So it's easy to be solved by other people.

It is weird that metamask can be hacked because as long as you don't input your private key, it won't be able to hacked. Are you sure you have never using your private key ? Or is there any peoples who have access of your pc ? Using hard wallet is safer than using online wallet, maybe next time you can try to using ledger.

Perhaps you need to contact the developers and ask them a question they will answer and the situation will be more clear because here you will find only speculation and opinions of people, you are unlikely to help. Try to contact support@metamask.io

Make sure you have proper malware and antivirus software installed in your computer. And don't visit skechty websites or email links. Definitely get a new wallet and follow proper setup for your best security. And never share your private keys with anyone!
I think his PC has been hacked and hacker got his private key. Otherwise metamask is so secure wallet. A lot of user using metamask and they are safe, some months ago hola extension was hacked and some users of metamask who used hold hola extension they got hacked. But after that everything was okey. So, I think his pc attacked by virus.

It is possible that the situation with burglary would help other people not to fall into such situations. Perhaps you indicated somewhere your data? Is that possible? Or somewhere downloaded files from unknown sources.

I used to think metamask wallet was very secured until I was hacked and losed 1 ethereum. I had various wallets on the metamask app and was transferring a token from one of the wallets held by the metamask only to get a deduction alert from my Imtoken wallet, the wallet which had the deductions was different from the wallet I was transferring tokens from. I quickly moved some tokens out of the wallet. I sincerely don't know how the hacker gained access to my wallet, I guess it's through a malware.

I am so sorry after hearing this. I think it is your own fault and where you store your pass/private key someone can access. So you should to create new wallet for storing crypto. And should change all password to be safe.
