Hey guys, I've been banned but I thinks it's an error.

It says "plagiarism" but the posts that have been deleted are posts of 3 years ago (IIRC).

Plus deleted posts are not direct reason of copy pasting there must be posts detected by mods. And admins will not unban you either.

Anyway, I think this must be an error. An account with 10471 posts certainly holds huge value for the forum. The original account also earned few merits as well.

Mods, admin should have a look into this issue.

It looks like it, because the ban is only temporary. If plagiarism is the reason, this is better than a permanent ban. I would however like to see a link to confirm plagiarism.

The fact that you got sig banned as well probably means that it was theymos who issued the ban. You could try PMing him I guess - not much the rest of us can do here. As for the plagiarised post, it seems to have already been deleted (either by redsn0w as he claims or by theymos).

Since BPIP scrapes the modlog, it doesn't show custom bans (which includes both temporary bans as well as permabans with a custom reason) in general.

I think bpip shoes nuked ban and autoban. It cant show any other ban, correct me if I am wrong in this point.

Usually, ban occur for a full profile from posting and sending a message. But you have been banned for 2 years on the signature? What you have worn on your signature. I think you have been banned for your worn signature where you wrote something which broke the rule of signature space.

I can't agree with you. Most of the posts are one sentence. S/he became legendary only as he was an old member. I do not think s/he has contributed anything according to his/her rank.

IIRC, theymos/a mod already stated that plagiarism is plagiarism and it doesn't matter how much posts/reputation someone has. Also, he didn't get a permaban like most users, so that's something.

It looks like plagiarism before 2016 - when it showed up in the list of rules - is still considered unacceptable, although the ban is softer in this case.

IMO, that's very unlikely.

a) It would be a lot of work to analyze each case again and issue a new customized ban;
b) I assume he will only issue temp bans for very specific cases (very old plagiarized posts, HQ posters, reputable users, etc...)

There's been no policy change. redsn0w wasn't permanently banned due to several factors which made me think that permabanning him would be a net negative for the forum. Nobody is banned strictly because of "the rules"; it's always handled case-by-case, but almost always, plagiarists deserve to be permabanned.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.

You are not allow to post outside meta if your original account has been banned. You can create new account only for appeal ban. If someone try to make post outside of meta then it will consider ban evasion. I think you misunderstood the rules.

Wow, you should consider yourself lucky. Most people get permanently banned for plagiarism. Although it was from 4.5 years ago

I think ban came for the signature issue.where its notified strongly that you will not be able to signature for next 2 years. There might be a reason for your past signature. But honestly action for plagiarism is quite soften here.
