It would be nice as an option, so long as the people of the Philippines are aware of a couple things:
A. If the power goes out (with all the frequent storms), you might not be able to use your BTC.
Obviously, all of us will be affected not just the Philippines if ever there is a wild spread black out as transactions needed to used the internet. B. The price can fluctuate wildly. When the bubble burst, many people lost the majority of their money, would hate to see that happen to people in the Philippines.
I'm sure they have that in mind, most Filipinos here have been here prior to the big boom in 2017. So they should know by now how crypto works to their advantage. Maybe have some Bitcoin set aside in case it goes up, maybe some on the side to trade and buy things with, but don't let it completely replace other forms of cash, as it may not be the best payment option.
Have a great day, The Cyberius team.
I don't think that Philippines will be a cashless society, I'm not seeing it in the next 5-10 years or more. They still rely on their local banks, but at least those they have more options right now and happy that the current administration is very supported of crypto-currency although coins.ph is heavily regulated (KYC/AML compliant). Just wanted to make sure. I know some folks in the Philippines, and didn't know how much the poster knew about BTC. Absolutely, the more options the better (at least it would seem), and BTC can make a good alternative in some circumstances. I will add that there's also the danger of crypto exchange hacks or even personal hacks to steal BTC, which seems to be a rampant and unsolved problem. As well as fake exchanges & scams. Thanks for the response. Have a good day, The Cyberius team.

Coinsdotph needs some competition. I admit, coinsdotph has been very efficient since bitcoin craze entered the Philippines. But as years passes by, it seems that they are taking advantage of being the only RELIABLE btc exchange/wallet in PH. Taking advantage in the sense that Filipino bitcoin users has no choice but use coinsdotph to encash their btc earnings, and that it turns out that they are monopolizing the btc exchange in PH (in terms of BTC to PHP exchange).
Other than that issue, I am fine with coinsdotph. I just hope they'll take another step to level up their service.
Actually they have a competition which is Abra, its an Android and IOS based app that allows user to send and received Bitcoins, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash and and perform cash out transaction at accredited establishments. Good thing about coins.ph is they have a lot of options on how to buy Bitcoins. Last saturday I tried to buy Bitcoin using touchpay, and it works like an ATM. Just insert cash and Bitcoin will appear in your account.

I thought though that the government is going to allow other exchanges to enter. Any updates on that news? Or maybe I didn't get my facts straight?

Bitcoin is indeed a good payment method. If you want to buy groceries in super markets using Bitcoin, simply cashout your Bitcoin from coins.ph and convert it to GCash to pay the bills.

Yes you could use 7-11 store to load up your coinsdotph account. And in your coinsdotph you could trade your Philippine Peso into crypto we could also buy ETH,XRP and BCH because they add it into their wallet.

Here in the Philippines we could use our local wallet called coins.ph to buy load pay for our electric, water and credit card bills and even book for travel. But how effective is this? Are you able to use this local wallet for shopping in the super-markets? Are you able to book flight tickets using this mode of payment? I researched a bit about the legality of Bitcoin in the Philippines. The good news is that it seems to be 100% legal there, unlike the situation in countries such as India and China. I think it is impossible to use it to buy goods on supermarkets and book some flight tickets but there are a lot of uses with the mobile application such as utility bills payment, telecom payments, government payments, insurance, and many more but paying this kind of bills using Bitcoin is not a wise idea in my opinion because it is better to hodl it for a longer period of time rather than using it as a normal currency for payments.

The application and use of Bitcoin can be applied to various accesses, which is the reason why Bitcoin currently has such good charm. If the Philippine country can implement this well then it will be able to provide an extraordinary experience, this certainly cannot be separated from the role and support of the government. I hope that more countries will emulate what the Philippines has done.

Other countries should follow suit. I mean, their central bank doesn't promote it of course but tells the people the risks they may take and what could happen. In the end, the people could choose what to do with their money. Actually a lot of countries in south east asia are already like this.

Coins.ph also is a big help for filipinos abroad.. They can send their money to their families with fast transactions no hassles.. It is directly sent from coins to family members and claim it to all remittances... As of today coins.ph added western union as one among the money transfers that they are connected with... Since most of the countries that have overseas filipino workers use western union... This is advantage to them...

But I wouldn't use Bitcoin to pay for anything that fiat can pay with unless it's very necessary, if I were you. Bitcoin is a provably scarce resource, don't waste it. HODL. Agree with you here on all accounts. Just because you are physically able to pay with BTC doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the wisest idea. If you like bitcoin as a payment way and it has low fees compared to any fiat payment method, then why not? Why isn't it wise? You can just exchange fiat into btc and pay this way. Bitcoin is a payment method too, not just an investment option as you look guys. Also it's not a good idea to hodl bitcoin, money has to be in circulation, I don't like the fact when others are just sitting and their only care is to wait while price rises.

It's impressive to hear that some countries are actually adopting the use of bitcoin to make payments for bills etc. I know in the near future we would see bitcoin being used in several countries to make payment for transactions made.

The Philippines are really moving forward with their adoption and use of bitcoin. We continue to see Bitcoin usage spread across the Philippines, this clearly shows more people are accepting bitcoin usage on a dialy basis . I strongly believe we will see more growth in Bitcoin usage, not just in Philippines but in other nations.

How come it is not the wisest idea ? You prefer to pay with cash but let me ask you something? Does paying with cash gives you a rebate? Does it gives you a discount? Well if we use our local wallet it does and it also does save some time and money, How? It is so easy we could pay without leaving our house with just our phone we don't need to fall in line to pay for our bills no need to grab a taxi or what . And if we want to pay with cash or turn our crypto into cash it would cost some withdrawal fee ,So if we want to pay with our local wallet we save our own time, energy and money by avoiding withdrawal fee and having a rebate.

Its starter from a one great wallet and now they are expanding to Thailand so I think, Thailand will also become a cryptohub place where you can easily make a small transactions. The development like this is good enough to encourage other countries to adopt cryptocurrency and i believe they can do better if they will just support cryptos.

But you will certainly change your mind when the price of the currency rises We need to spread its idea and generalize its use as a currency because it speeds up adoption.

I had seen how the application works. Actually you can use your bitcoin here to pay bills and to buy load. But, for those who likes to earn more, it would be better to save those bitcoins especially with the price of bitcoin these past weeks is on the rise. Don't waste them to pay for bills and load. When bull run comes, you might triple your investment.

HODL. <snip> <snip> <snip> Honestly, I get your point and I understand you somehow. It is a wise move to be practical with btc — reserving it until the right time comes (Hmm, a bull run for example) in order to make the most of it. However, hodling has a disadvantage in the long run because you don't notice that as day passed you become greedier than before. Small price increase don't bother you anymore because you always think of a of a bigger fish to come. When that big opportunity come, there are tendencies that you still want to achieve higher. Well, I don't say that not having contentment is a bad thing but too much of it is not worthy anymore, it will only eat you. Besides, spending btc or money in general is not a waste at all because you could get goods/services in return. That was fair enough I guess .

And you have forgotten to say that we can also buy game credits like Steam and so on. this is a very good service because even if you faraway from Town you can buy anything listed there. because of these services we keep the useful of bitcoin. it's not just a waste, and it will be useful forever because many are using it.
