I have done 30 activities, but my rank is still a newbie. I thought after doing 30+ activities rank would be increased. How does the new ranking system work? How can I increase my merits?

Wow, it's been a long time since we've had a merit question. Here's a link to the merit system and how it works. There was an update on 16 SEP 2018, you now need at least one merit to rank up to Jr. Member. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.msg28856522#msg28856522ETA: After looking through your posts to see if you have made any deserving of merit I found nothing. The only non-bounty posts you've made are this one, and one suggesting to someone who's banned to just make a new account. You're not likely to get any merit if you continue in that way.

Hey OP you just started your journey here on 20th january 2019 and being silly for merits too early. Without Spending time to get knowledges about this forum, specially how it works, which things are allowed or disallowed you just made your post on Meta. Don't you bother about forum rules, search option or knowledge actually. Atleast you should read pin posts to learn about ranking before submitting a thread by your own. But i see here you didn't follow that properly. So how could you expect merit? I am surprised after showing your post history where you have 33 post in total but from them you made 30 bounty post.

If you want the ability to wear a signature, purchase a copper membership.
Don't encourage newbie to buy copper membership in order to wear signature. They will spam over forum and this topic is a example. If someone need to post image then he should buy it. To be honest most of new copper member spamming on the forum in my observation. @OP, you need at least 1 merit become Jr. Member and I don't think you deserve it.

I don't need to be reprimanded by you. I'm only conveying what theymos himself is conveying. Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership. Just consider it a deposit to be paid for garbage removal.

Don't encourage newbie to buy copper membership in order to wear signature. They will spam over forum and this topic is a example. That's just an another way of thinking, but there are some net positive effects to the forum if a user buy a copper member account, it affects the BTC storage and income of the forum which can be later used in the betterment and spam management too. I think there is nothing bad in promoting the sale of copper membership.
This really a good explanation for making quality posts. +1

-snip- How can I increase my merits?
Make a really funny but original MEME and post it in the Wall Observer thread, people there love awarding merit to stupidly-funny posts. Just Kidding ( but it works).
Seriously, you need to at least be honest on your intentions and reply based from your expertise. And read this very long but detailed topic created by mu_enrico: Newbie's Guide to Getting Merit (Proven)

Your questions contradicts each other let me explain what I meant. First you ask a question only a old forum users or someone that knows how the previous ranking system works will know. How does the new ranking system work? How can I increase my merits?
Then you ask another question first acting like you don't know how the new system works but again you asked how to get merit (that serves as a requirement) in the new system. OP you're trying to play smart but lets say you're truly asking like someone who doesn't know then read this thread; FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit And if you feel you have written some quality posts that went unmerited due to one reason or the other, participate in; UPDATED [20/02/2019]: List of Active Merit Giveaways threads.

Funny, funny, funny. I see yourself posting the same day, the difference is time. Here you teach people how to register an account, funny. Here you are as if you are quite an expert in the Forum section. Make an account using a new email. But do not log in after the registration button was clicked. After the registration, click the back button in the browser. Then go to the login tab and enter new details which were used in registration.
Here you yourself ask Merit, Here as if you do not understand the Forum rules. I have done 30 activities, but my rank is still a newbie. I thought after doing 30+ activities rank would be increased. How does the new ranking system work? How can I increase my merits?
If you always make posts like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2530898;sa=showPosts , far away, fire from roast, meaning: even though your post reaches 50,000 posts no one gives yourself Merit. This is not Merit, which is earned but money for yourself.

1. Apply for a Meritship Program. They are pretty competitive these days but if your GPA is good then you just might stand a chance.
2. Find a Merit Mentor. It's kind of like a Big Buddy program for the meritless.
3. Say a prayer to theymos before you go to sleep each night.
4. Buy a merit detector and dig one up on the beach.
5. Pretend like you give a crap about anything besides how to profit off the forum.

For the OP, I have something to tell you here. 1. Such Twitter reports for your bounties will do never never got merits. It's the fact, because that kind of post contribute nothing to the forum. In other words, those posts are non-sense for forum users. 2. Besides the topic of cabalism presented in previous thread, I highly recommend you to visit the topic. Inspirational stories from self-made promoted users (by tranthidung) [CLUBS] Top Merited-Users Classified into 4 Clubs (by tranthidung) TMAN'S guide to getting merit. (by TMAN) Learn from their stories, their merited posts/ topics of the top merited users. Then, try applying their strategies with good attitude for your own posts. Days, weeks, or months later, merits will come to your account.

How does the new ranking system work? How can I increase my merits?
The second question is the answer to the first, the new ranking system requires you to increase your merits, or in this case earn your first merit which is the barest minimum to achieve the jr member rank as you have the needed activity. How to get merits: Do not post randomly Be active on the forum and help out in new threads. Do not simply repeat what others have said. Do research and in your own words create helpful post. Use tbe search function to ensure you're not rehashing a previous post. Do not beg for merits.

Agreed, plus I don't think there's anything really wrong with members who only post in the bounty section. It's when they start trying to make posts in threads on topics they have no interest in, or in a language they don't understand, that they start to become rancid. I'd much prefer a new member buy a copper membership than attempt to earn a single merit on their own if they're hopelessly inept at writing. OP, if your question got answered to your satisfaction, please consider locking this thread.

The merit system is nothing other than a mechanism to appreciate quality content on this forum. It is similar to Facebook where you are supposed to share your content and others will like it or not, if they do then they will give you merit points for the same. You should not take any artificial efforts for purchasing, begging, hacking or any other non-organic activity. The best way to gain merits is to share as much knowledge with others in the best possible way.

You should post good topics. This system has become the forum in order to improve the quality of the topics. Do not waste your time ,enjoying reading the topics and the benefits will come on their own. Give it time only.

These will also increase your chance having tagged by DTs or permanently banned. No one will get banned for abusing the merit system and even theymos don't want the DT members to tag them unless there is an clearly abuse happened.

Hey as you have already been told how the merit system works, now I would tell you to pick a section and start paying close attention to how people construct quality posts in it. While each one here has their own style and views, remember do not post plagiarized content to get a quick merit. Lastly remember do not post one liners or off topic content, also you can check out threads which give merits for deserving posts.

You can Increase your merits by increasing your usefulness on the forum.30 posts(activities) shouldn't be enough to rank you up especially when they are 30 useless posts that don't even come close to being merited. You can either stick around and learn or use the exit door, it's always wide open
