That's accurate, Unlike the early days of bitcoin when majority of those who engaged with the currency were true believers that saw the technology as a revolution. These days those joining the community are profit seekers and they're coming in their numbers which is contributing destructively to the high level of fud and dip in price resulting from any negative news.

Yes, most early adopters of the technology, saw the massive potential of the technology and they bought loads of coins, because they believed in the technology. < Mostly the "Cypherpunk" community > It was a massive boost for them that this technology became so useful and also increased in value over time.

A lot of those early investors also turned into Crypto Whales and are now manipulating the Crypto markets to generate more wealth for them. <Example : Roger Ver>

From what I've seen on this forum in the past 4 years, I'd say you're most likely correct.  I also get the impression that a lot of members of this forum are interested in earningmoney, not necessarily bitcoin or any other crypto.  In other words, they aren't hardcore crypto enthusiasts, HODL'ers, and they might not even be particularly passionate about what form of money they earn.  Don't get me wrong, it's still good to have people from all over the world earning crypto via signature campaigns and bounties, but I don't suspect a lot of them would continue to be involved in it if those sources dried up.

That's because we're in a current trend. Eventually it should reverse so don't worry too much about it. As things stand right now, there are likely more true believers in the market than those who have no idea why they're here, or just here for the profit. The bear market did a pretty good job scaring away non believers.

The reason why it easier for true believers to be optimistic about bitcoin is because of the understanding they have and what those who are causing panic in the market lack understands. So many people are still making money from short term trading even with the market challenge.

People who are new to the cryptocurrency doesn't know much about the risk associated with bitcoin as well other cryptocurrencies. Who are already the part of cryptocurrency know that bitcoin is all about risk, and even when the market isn't that positive they give good support with lots of hope to the users. This is possible only with the true believers which a non believer can't say with confidence.

You might have replaced the word “hodler” with the word true believers which isn't a phrase that is really being used enough in the crypto industry. The word hodler is enough to express what you are saying. Just like what BrewMaster said you made it sound bad for a crypto hodler to hear. The Bitcoin community is no way even near to what a cult does. We don't worship BTC or in anyway idolize it somehow as we just only support it as our investment by buying and selling it, some even really use it as a mode of payment to show their support towards it.
