Does anyone know if merit sources' smerits expired yesterday?

The essence of the matter is that source smerits expire exactly 30 days after they are awarded if they are not used

I wouldn't say source sMerits expire. If I don't use them, they just stay in my account. But if I do use them, they're replenished exactly 30 days later. So you have 100 source sMerits to spend, and you spend them in the first day, you can do this (slightly over) 12 times per year (>1200 sMerits per year). If you spend 1 per day, you can do this forever, but you'll only spend 365 sMerits per year. My ideal spending (which I don't always reach) is spending them evenly throughout the month, keeping my source close to zero but with daily replenishments.

I only expect that if theymos manually changes it, and I don't think I'd be removed as a Merit source after just one month of inactivity.

I think that if he doesn't use the merit source sMerit, it simply doesn't get replenished (i.e. remain with the max he can have), and that's all.
Does sMerit decay was actually implemented at all? Since I think it wasn't...

There are no holidays in the life of a merit source.
Everyday spending merits (certainly), everyday getting merits (hopefully).
At least, judging from the "Received Merit Streaks" from ddmrddmr Merit Dashboard, this has been my life during the last few years.

I guess my point was that my revised point is that the ability of the smerits to timely replenish expires after 30 days.. but what I really meant is that they fail to renew (replenish as NeuroticFish clarified)... .. So I might have gotten caught in my own dramatic attempt at effect when I said poof.. .. I might have to take that back.. hate to do it.. but admittedly it is seeming a bit inaccurate and misleading about what is happening... .. because surely there is a difference between failing to renew and completely disappearing.. so in that sense you may or may not have had a failure to replenish unless you fail to spend for more than 30 days, because my understanding is that when you do spend from your source merits, the oldest ones will get spent first.

For sure, I did not want to suggest that you would be removed as a merit source based on long periods of inactivity.. but I was convoluting failing to replenish with decaying merits.. which I am not sure if decaying merits is actually anything that has been done - except if theymos ended up doing that manually... so you are likely right that they would just max out and then at some point if the issue persists in which you are not spending your source merits, theymos might determine to remove you as a merit source or to reduce your smerit allowance.  Up to his discretion, of course.

Ok. This is probably how I should have said it.. I admit.  I got carried away, and  I ended up suggesting that decay happens rather than mere failure to replenish.

Technically, I heard that rebooting and reloading is a thing.. maybe even troubleshooting the Algos happens from time to time..

I suppose you can call such "down time" whatever you like. 

It's a free country the last time I checked. 

By the way, I did not ask very many people (nor bots) regarding exact definitions of "free" or what is supposed to be "country."  We surely do live in "interesting times," if we can try to keep up.... Does anyone have time for vacation anymore?

The question is not that good, sorry. In the same way they sleep while we're blinking, you will most probably won't notice a bot's vacation. They may have more vacations than humans and still be perceived as working 24/7.

Not sure why it was faster, as I didn’t really change anything. There are a couple of possible options that could have made the process speedier on this occasion:

- There were less merited posts than on prior occasions. Normally, the process is faster on the first bunch of posts I remerit, before Cloudflare kicks-in to complain that I'm going too fast, leading the process to perform some retries. Having less posts to remerit should therefore likely show with a better TX/s ratio.

- VPN connection will differ from one session to another. I may have caught a faster track on the last spree.

Deferring the spree a day may have broke the TX/s record in the opposite direction, as per the problems described here.

Note: Minor correction: last spree was on the tenth really.

At least there is a little connection with Christmas, he wants to share his happiness with loved ones here. Not everyone can be touched by the Merit party, I think you are one of the lucky ones from DdmrDdmr little party.

So iNoticed that last year after the Xmas Merit spreee, he had an holiday until the 2nd of February.
