First of all this should be in the Trading Discussion not in Bitcoin Discussions. Choosing the right exchange site for you depends on what coin or token you plan to buy because even if you are using the #1 exchange site as per Coinmarketcap, it will be useless if the coin or token you plan to buy is not listed.

There are too qualities to look for in an exchange;
Liquidity,
Security,
Ease of withdrawal of assets,
Credibility,
Easy to use interface.
Exchanges are mostly ranked according to the market capitalization and trading volume, but this figures are not always accurate. Always do proper research.

It also depends on if you're converting crypto to fiat or crypto-crypto.
Binance, IDEX, Coinbase are all examples of cryptocurrency exchanges.

For me, the first thing I look at when choosing an exchange is their security because I have lost huge amount before on an exchange due to poor secuirty system they put in place. Make sure they have security permit for trading and withdrawal. Bitfinex for example has security for trading, meaning without your security code, no one can trade your tokens even if they have access to your account. They can't also withdraw your tokens without your code. The next thing I look out for is what they charge for withdrawals as some exchanges charge very large fees which can be very tiring.

I myself prefers local exchange with clear information about the company. Here in my country, there is a local exchange which is so popular and trusted. The exchange has offices in some cities so it gives users more confidence to use the exchange because it will be easier to contact them whenever we experiences difficulties or issues.
If you dont know how exchange works, then I suggest you to find local exchange first if any.

Due to so many coins being created day in and out, exchanges has also been lauched. I trade on most exchanges but the number one criteria I use is its decentralized nature. I always like using decentralized exchanges.

First you have to choose which stock market to trade first. You can deposit money on a  exchange, then buy coins.. You can deposit money on a  exchange, then buy coins. then deposit this bitcoin to another stock exchange where you can buy other coins. ( Binance, bittrex, poloniex ) then review the average daily price of 100 , and buy it when it's at the lowest price..when it is profitable, you sell.

I will assume you are pointing to bitcoin here.

First thing you need to search is if that exchanges will give you an easy and less hassle way of buying bitcoins since obviously you need bitcoins to start doing trades as part of your study about how trades works. Lots of big names so you are the one who have to decide which one as we might have different experience using them.

Might also try to search for a local crypto exchange first as surely it was way more accessible as it will support some of your payment system in your country. If you have difficult finding some you can seek an assistance at your local section or local social crypto groups.

Liquidity is my priority on looking for some exchanges and of course the reviews on it. Coinbase is a good wallet/exchange you can start small on that. Do learn more about trading, this is not just about good exchanges, you have to improve your skill on trading of course.

Coinbase is the wallet where you can buy and sell through coinbase directly --> https://www.coinbase.com/

While in coinbase pro, this is where trading happens with other users --> https://pro.coinbase.com/

This is very correct. First, he needs to know what coins he wants to trade. But then again, there are a lot of threads in the trading discussion what he's looking for. So better go ahead in that section and read for himself. No need to create a new one.

If you're not planning to short trade - you're just gonna buy and hold for a long period, check out this site: https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com
>fill out the country field
>fill out the payment method
>click "read review" for more information about the chosen exchange. It also has tutorials which is sth you've asked. But I will still advice you to search for other reviews from diff sites.

Just a heads up! Don't keep your coins in an exchange for too long since you don't hold the keys there (ownership basically).
Check this for wallets: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

And I wasn't 100% sure but if you're just planning to trade crypto <-> crypto, might as well stay away from those who deals with fiat as they are stricter when it comes to kyc.

Choose an exchange with high volume, secured (there should have 2fa security), and easy to use. I recommend you to use only Binance at start since it's user friendly including newbie traders. Their indicators and tools aren't complicated which is good when you're just starting trading.

You may get going with coinbase as they are highly reputed (but not sure about their liquidity and availability of wide range of altcoins and tokens) if you are able to clear KYC. I like to suggest you to go for bittrex where I am trading right now still you need to clear KYC. Binance might be another good exchange with almost all the tokens and coins are available with them and they may allow you to withdraw up to 2 BTC daily without KYC.

advise me of the some exchange names.
Please look into service announcement board for active bitcointalk supporting exchanges.
Check exchanges board for issues and latest opinion by our community.
You may get all the exchanges list from coinmarketcap. Check here : https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/reported

the first and the most important thing to consider is trustworthiness! for example check the history of the exchange and see different feedbacks to find out whether they have scammed anyone before and if they did that means they will do it again so stay away from such exchanges. a good source for that is bitcointalk, use the search function on top right corner of the webpage and also look for their announcement topic.

when you find a trustworthy exchange they will automatically also have higher volume (liquidity) list lots of coins, have better security and better options,...

I guess you can choose the exchange from reading on many threads here and I think you only need to try on the recommended by many members.

I don't suggest to try with the new exchange because you don't know more about them. It is better to choose the reputable exchanges while you can learn what is inside the exchange and make yourself familiar with the trading process.

Once you are familiar, then you can move to the other exchanges and feel the differences. You can then choose which exchange that fits with yourself, and I am sure that in the end, you will have a favorite exchange.

It is best that you only use Binance and coinbase, but you should read the TOS of these two exchanges and if your country is not on the list of restricted countries. In other words, you should see if your country is allowed to trade in these exchanges. why I recommended these 2 exchanges?

1-) because you know who are the owners of these 2 exchanges and if you do not know, then you can search on google

2-) because so far they are more reliable than other exchanges

I purely look for safety, as I don’t think there is any else you could talk with exchange aside from security and safety. I don’t like pure exchanges much at all. Although, I myself use Coinbase but overall I prefer broker.

I have done Forex trading for years and years now, and there only I have started doing Crypto trading. I have recently joined up on FXLinked, where they have over 150 instruments to select from which include Cryptos too, so it’s something that’s pretty cool and much easier as compare to routine way of exchange.
