Yes it is needed you have to give KYC details to some company called uphold to actually get your BAT tokens yet it's not telling you this until you try and claim them I think it's a terrible for a browser that says it's privacy focused to push ad's to users then require they KYC to get the funds via come company.

Brave should OUTRIGHT state to users when turning on the ad's YOU ARE REQUIRED to KYC before you can claim you BAT.

It is necessary for you to submit a KYC for you earn BAT token in the brave browser for them to avoid multiple accounts or fraudulent accounts. But don't you worry because your KYC details in brave browser is safe and they will not used to in illegal activities such as identity theft.

There's always a risk of your data being leaked when it's on the hand of others. Brave is an advertising based browser and they might use our data to personalize ads for us. The reward through brave is not large enough to risk your private info. Though they are a blockchain based economy, they are no different from any other profit oriented business.

That is to say, gone are the days when ads are being viewed for free or even enforced on users. Some ads can even pop up without the consent of the user therefore disrupting what the user is doing at that particular point in time. Therefore with a broswer like Brave it is being brought to control, that is, payment for viewing ads. Also, it is a clear proof that blockchain and cryptocurrency is gaining the required attention. Nevertheless, am yet to understand how it is possible to earn with the broswer and in view of this will make my research about it.

Personally I never tried using this brave browser but I already read a lot of article about this cryptocurrency browser.

Looking at this news could be a good news since it implementing a cryptocurrency reward but in experience earning in watching advertisements videos was totally not worth it considering the time and tech you are using.
Still advertisement just didn't have a good record considering google, but still if it was not too distracting or just a small ads in the brave browser it might be a great feature to have in the browser.

I tried it back when BAT was out and all the ads were supposed to be earning money but I never saw any ads anyway so not sure if it ever would have worked because of my location (typical that Asia locations aren't giving out money for ads). I return to Firefox mainly or Chrome, but usually this still depends on the computer I use as I don't have my own.

Those ads are country targeted I am also using Brave browser and only getting 3 to 4 ads a week sometimes nothing and my earning is only 10 cents for a month, it's not something that you can rely if you want to get BAT it's better to write articles and rate article on Publish0X if you want to earn some BAT.
