I know this just a little thing to consider, and I usually notice small details, and I have read multiple times where people refer to this forum as BTT, BCT, BTCT, etc., probably you have read them too, and I think we need to have a standard.

After almost four years since mmmaybe posted this topic, I think there is still no official abbreviation or acronym to describe Bitcointalk. Or not that I know of. The close one is this below (from the previous thread by Lorenzo)

Because the forum is HTTPS, you will not receive any referrer info from clicks! If you want to track forum clicks, put something like "?bct" at the end of your URL, and look for that in your access logs.

Either you go for an initialism (pronounce each letter) to form the new word. Depends on your preference.

BiTcoinTalk - BTT
BitCoinTalk - BCT
BiTCoinTalk - BTCT

Some data I collected also referencing from the previous thread

- BCT has the most results but ever since the previous thread, BTT was only around 7780 and now it's 20200. Considerably a lot higher. My guess that it has been used in the Altcoins Section because of the BTT coin. Not necessarily the forum name.

We all know we want to keep things short, so maybe cast your vote on which is the best for you and what you have used over the past. I personally like using BTCT (it makes sense Bitcoin+Talk) instead of BTT and BCT. Based on my research, BCT is still the number one used.

Any takes on this? And maybe there would be finalization and have standardization throughout the forum. Just my thoughts.

From what I've seen, "BTT" is only used by clueless bounty spammers. Real users refer to the site as BCT or just Bitcointalk if you're not too lazy to type Tongue

Maybe that's the real reason why Google Search shows a lot of counts 20K results. When I know I'm going to type BCT or BTCT; I would prefer to complete it. That's if I'm on a keyboard, not in mobile. I love how it feels to type, especially in mechanical keyboards.

This is forum, not any coin. So it shouldn't compare with coin name or symbol. Also never mind if symbols match with any coin name or symbol. Because mostly this shortcut we use on forum inside. So most of people's will know what are you want to mean.

I voted for BCT. This is appropriate in my opinion. But for me I always type Bitcointalk.

Great question mate, I also curious this kind of abbreviation here in our forum. How can we say it is legit when we ain't controlled by any regulation or law in the first place? We are decentralized.

BTT is the one I used. When I came here users are already talking about BTT(maybe old users BCT). But isn't bad if we mention the complete name. Bitcointalk.org

Might as well drop BTT as an acronym all together, since it now refers to a shittoken on a shitcoin blockchain. Best not to confused the two imo, not that it was ever really used.
It never made any sense to use this acronym either, it's just not the usual format for acronyms, BCT is the obvious choice since BTF never gets used (BitcoinTalk Forum)

I would go with BTT, because bitcoin's abbreviation is BTC, for unknown reason you remove 'C', so BT and add T at the end for 'talk' word.

There is none of an endorsed abbreviation for the Bitcointalk Forum officially.

Theymos too doesn't use any of those mostly as stated here.

You can use whatever you want...

I almost always call this site "the forum", "the Bitcoin Forum", or "bitcointalk.org" (spelled out completely). I very rarely call it just "BitcoinTalk," so any abbreviation of that name isn't natural to me. I don't see where people get BTT from, though.

Still, I would go with BitCoinTalk - BCT, which looks most logical way too me.

I don’t think I've ever abbreviate it, and it’s curious to see that google search results are topsy-turvy from my logic: My choice would be BTCT, since we already have BTC for Bitcoin. BTT seems the least logical option since the first T does not initiate a word.

Of course when you see the acronyms, they look like listed altcoins:

BTT: BitTorrent
BCT: BCoin Token
BTCT:  seems free for now …

Totally agreed with you.
From what I've seen, "BTT" is only used by clueless bounty spammers. Real users refer to the site as BCT or just Bitcointalk if you're not too lazy to type Tongue
That is what we should name bitcointalk in abbreviation, BCT.
BitCoinTalk - BCT

Honestly, I have read some bounty topic, that mentioned about BTT, or even in telegram or Discord channels.
At that time, around more than one year ago, I did not know what it means, honestly.
As @LoyceV pointed out, it tend to be used as BTT by lazy scammers, who even don't care which kind of forum they join to spread their scam projects out.
One more thing, when abbreviation BCT use, we should use it as BCT forum to avoid misunderstanding with any kind of tokens, altcoins launched later. Real crypto enthusiasts will easily known what BCT forum means.

I think any from either BCT or BTCT seem reasonable to me, although BCT seem more logical, while BTCT promotes the BTC ticker more.

Me too, and it never even made any sense to me why they'd refer to the forum with those initials, since BCT makes much more sense.  Those initials are also what I usually saw as an abbreviation when I first joined the forum.

OP, it does seem like a small matter but I think it's definitely worth discussing at least--just like the discussion about what the units of bitcoin itself should be (bits, mbits, satoshi, etc.).  This could at least put us all on the same page if enough members read this thread, which I hope they do--especially those bounty hunters who frequently refer to bitcointalk as BTT.  That drives me insane.

I'm not a fan of BTCT, though at least that one makes a bit more sense.  The only problem I have with it is that it's not any better than BCT, which has only 3 letters and is therefore more efficient.
